I play basic strategy through all 0 counts, But when the count is +12 and I have 15 v T, and there's only a few cards remaining, I know i'm gonna bust if I hit. You're saying I should follow basic strategy to the letter in that situation? I've searched for single deck indices, but mostly all I can find are for multiple decks.
Sorry, I misread your post. I thought you said you rarely hit 12 vs 2 or 3. I didn't see that you inserted +4 before the comment. My apologies.

I did a search for single deck HILO illustrious 18. This is what I found as an exerpt from the book BOOTLEGGERS 200 PROOF BLACKJACK by Mike Turner in order of importance:

1)Insurance .+1.4 or higher
2) 16 v T .... stand 0 or higher
3) 15 v T .... stand +4 or higher
4) TT v 5 .... split +5 or higher
5) TT v 6 .... split +4 or higher
6) 10 v T .... double +3 or higher
7) 12 v 3 .... stand +3 or higher
8) 12 v 2 .... stand +4 or higher
9) 11 v A .... double -2 or higher
10) 9 v 2 .... double +1 or higher
11) 10 v A... double +2 or higher
12) 9 v 7 .... double +4 or higher
13) 16 v 9... stand +5 or higher
14) 13 v 2... hit 0 or less
15) 12 v 4... hit +1 or less
16) 12 v 5... hit 0 or less
17) 12 v 6... hit -2 or less
18) 13 v 3 .. hit -1 or less

They are TC indices. Good luck. I hope this reference is a credible source.

Thanks tthree, I appreciate it. I'll practice these out and put them to work. I really think I just need to stand a little more when count is higher to not bust myself out. Tonight I played with 1-5 spread for 5 hours and stood more and finished + 28 units, so I think these indices will help a lot.

Your welcome

I was glad to help. It did take a while, I see why you were having trouble finding it on your own.

It should help a lot. They say the illustrious 18 gets around 3/4 of the gain found in index play. I know every time I learn something very useful about this game, I think back to some of those horrible sessions (they seem to be easy to remember) and I realize how much the new knowledge would have helped to curb some of the losses.

Win more lose less!!!
