9th outing underway (contd)

Hey aslan, couple suggestions:

1) Your previous post from you vegas trip was only like a day old, couldn't you have just replied to it?

2) I belive the $25 thing is standard MGM Mirage rating policy now. And when the PC says "average bet of $25", they really mean "minimum bet of $25". I actually had one floorlady come back and ask me for my card after my bets hit $100 at one table at Monte Carlo. Suggestions would be to either forget about the comp rating completely and go unrated, or to just say "yeah, sure", and bet $25 (or hell, even $100), then you're giving your card to the PC. Then go back to playing your game.

3) While at the Venetian, you may have made a mistake in deck measurement I like to call the "easy rhino"... I'm pretty sure all of Venetian's lower-limit tables (<$25) are 8D, not 6D. This could lead to you overestimating some positive counts. (My mistake was at MGM this spring, where I had them mistaken the other way around.)

The best attitude seems to be, forget the money, stay cool, detached, and play the system you know is right in the long run. There's no room for improvisation, just do it the way you know how.
This is a very good lesson to learn.

And I don't think "steamboating" is a real word, but I like it nontheless.

It was a $10 min table as marked. But the policy is average $25 to get rated. Every other casino can't wait to get a player's card in your hand. I thought it was curious. And his gruff demeanor was anything but customer friendly as I thought all MGM properties try to be.
You're right, they're 8 deck. I'm not sure they can be beat.

Oh, 8D can be beat, they're just not at all good for play-all. And sometimes the travails of wonging can make them a big pain in the ass.

6D isn't much better for play-all, Wonging is the way to go with any kind of shoe. It's a physical game skill; moving around the floor, elbowing your way on to tables.

Just an idea here.
But why dont you keep all your outings together in one thread. Kinda like the diary of "man this counting stuff is hard" That way we could read all the excitement of your adventures in one post? Oh well, I guess its to late now anyway.

They could be combined with some self-editing effort, I had to do some on my monstrous navel-gazing post.

... not that I'm really recommending that anyone (including me) make a post like mine.

Next time I'll keep it all together. That seems to be the consensus.

Two daschunds! Double trouble. One boss in the house is enough. My mixed breed terrier is a slave driver. But he did give me 9 days off in Vegas; I've gotta commend him for that. :1st:

Well, today was my last full day in Vegas. I took a poster's advice and went to Treasure Island. the rules are fine, Bot I wasn't especially fond of the dealers, one sarcastic sob in particular, Randy. I won $150, went to dinner and didn't return. I'd played planet hollywood for a while at a 6 deck $10 game and won $150 as well and enjoyed it a lot more due to the cordial dealers and fellow players. BJ is not just a money grab to me; it's recreational as well.

ALso, I played at Paris for a while and won $110 before I realized it was a no double after splitting. It was right on the felt and I didn't see it at first. I checked Bally's and it too was no double after splitting. This was consistent with what a poster in a different thread had told me about Harrah's which owns Paris and Bally's (I think). How much disadvantage is no double after splitting anyway?

All in all, if I escape tomorrow without injury, I won somewhere in the neighborhood of $2,050 plus a cashback from planet hollywood of $250 from last year's slot play. Also, I didn't get any push back, although there did seem to be heat at times, whether real or imagined, I don't know for sure. My play is good sometimes and horrible at others. Sometimes I cannot bring myself to fully spread for fear of attracting attention. I squandered some real opportunities to make a lot more money than I did. I don't know if cover is worth it. However , some people here advised me that once identified as a counter in Vegas, many of the other casinos will also be given the information so that it is hard to find a place that will welcome you. I've heard different perspectives on that in the forum here. ALso, I did manage to get a couple of room comps for next year on my table play alone without playing slots.

Back Home in Virginia

Is was a whirlwind week and two days in Vegas. I estimate I played an average of 2 sessions a day, losing only two of them the entire 10 days. My greatest loss was $500. The final win tally, including tips and drinks, about $2,250. I did blow about $250 on slots, but I also received $250 cash back from my last stay in Vegas for all my slot play back then.

I am dreading going back to AC where I have not found a double deck game. I hate the wonging out aspect of shoe games, and generally don't wong out much in 6 deck. It's really a grind as far as I'm concerned winning anything in a 6 or 8 deck shoe game.
