wud u drive from i355@i88 (glen ellyn, lisle, wheaton, warrenville, etc) all the way to michigan city? it already takes me 1 hour to get to gary (casinos in illinois are super horrible), and i dont count cards, so wut am i gaining? btw if u dont count cards, more decks are better (except if u have 1-2 decks, because then BS changes) and continuous shufflers are good 4 ppl who DONT count cards.. and i wud need to know FOR SURE that the blue chip has $5 tables 24/7 (majestic star in gary has $5 tables only when it is DEAD, which turns out to be like 20 hours a week).. if that was the case i wud probably take the 90 minute drive there (i dont care what the case is, driving to the 8th! closest casino to u is absurd)rogue1 said:You need to tell Silentbob about The Blue Chip Casino!
Majestic Star is terrible. Max hands per player is 2 hands with no mid shoe entry in the high roller roomperson1125 said:Yeah the blue chip from what I hear is supposed to be nicer and better and the majestic star (former trump place). BLUE CHIP is something like exit-40 or so off of I-94 only about 20-25 minutes from the casinos in gary. the horseshoe is renovating right now, but it seems very crowded in side and on a friday by 5pm most tables are at $25 min.
if you live near chicago, the best casino is the majest star in gary, it has .45% house edge with $10 tables 24/7 and $5 tables like 10% of the timerogue1 said:Anybody have inormation about The Mystik or The Horseshoe near Gary Indiana? Any other good casinos nearby? Thanks.
i just read this again, and i dont know why i said that thing about more decks is better for a non counter, because that is highly false.. must have been back when i didnt know jack but BS, but even so, im confused at why i said that.. but it is true that CSM's lower the house edge (but it raises the hands per hour thus increasing money lost per hour)SilentBob420BMFJ said:wud u drive from i355@i88 (glen ellyn, lisle, wheaton, warrenville, etc) all the way to michigan city? it already takes me 1 hour to get to gary (casinos in illinois are super horrible), and i dont count cards, so wut am i gaining? btw if u dont count cards, more decks are better (except if u have 1-2 decks, because then BS changes) and continuous shufflers are good 4 ppl who DONT count cards.. and i wud need to know FOR SURE that the blue chip has $5 tables 24/7 (majestic star in gary has $5 tables only when it is DEAD, which turns out to be like 20 hours a week).. if that was the case i wud probably take the 90 minute drive there (i dont care what the case is, driving to the 8th! closest casino to u is absurd)
the majestic star is the best casino within 1 hour of chicago, but they recently KILLED their video poker, and i mean KILLED as in no full pay until $5!!! (some $1 full pay).. and they used to have $3 blackjack with .45% house edge, now they have the same but $10.. so i dont know why ppl diss the star, its the best in chicagolandchichow said:Majestic Star is terrible. first off, if you are willing to lose more money because the environment is nicer, thats foolish, and secondly, i never said the majestic star CURRENTLY had $3 tables, i said they have $10 tables all the time, and sometimes $5 tables (sometimes you have to ask them to change it to $5).. also, i have been to all 7 casinos w/ in 1 hour of chicago, and i honestly dont see that much of a difference between them, but to me, the lighting is most important, and i like the 35 foot ceilings and brightness of the ms1.. i hate it when its all dark and the tables are 2 feet apart.. but i posted a lot of this b4 i checked out the other 2 casinos in nw indiana, and i have to say that in terms of house edge and table minimums only, resorts has the best, .43% (6 decks)chichow said:Let's be a little more specific here.
From a gaming environment (smoke, crowds, wait staff, etc), I would have to say that Majestic Star is one of the worst casino's 1 hour radius around from Chicago.
I would say that its:
Joliet Harrah's #1
Elgin Gran Vic / Joliet Empress / Aurora Hollywood lumped together mid tier
IN Resorts #3
IN Majestic Star and IN Horseshoe last.
Majestic Star probably has the best BJ odds for a red-chipper if there really are $3 dollar tables off hours. (I personally can't confirm the off hours), but if you are willing to bet $10 or $15 dollars a hand and higher, there are much better options. From an odds perspective, I would say IN Resorts and Joliet Harrahs (although I object to Joliet since they have a cover on the discard tray)
I was there last week. Played $10 6D game for about 3 hours and won $600, no heat at all. Spread from $10-2 x $65. Penetration was about 75% or 1.5 decks. $5 tables were way crowded, $10 had plenty of room and more tables open when I went back Thursday compared to other visit Monday.rogue1 said:Hi Preston,
How's the heat at The Blue Chip Casino? Conditions sound great.
If I am going to be at a casino for 4 - 5 hours, then yes it makes a difference to me the amount of smoke in the air and the lighting along with the playing conditions.SilentBob420BMFJ said:first off, if you are willing to lose more money because the environment is nicer, thats foolish, and secondly, i never said the majestic star CURRENTLY had $3 tables, i said they have $10 tables all the time, and sometimes $5 tables (sometimes you have to ask them to change it to $5).. also, i have been to all 7 casinos w/ in 1 hour of chicago, and i honestly dont see that much of a difference between them, but to me, the lighting is most important, and i like the 35 foot ceilings and brightness of the ms1.. i hate it when its all dark and the tables are 2 feet apart.. but i posted a lot of this b4 i checked out the other 2 casinos in nw indiana, and i have to say that in terms of house edge and table minimums only, resorts has the best, .43% (6 decks)
