6:5 blackjack

I tell my friend over and over... its a SUCKER GAME.... but yet he likes the "touch the cards"(give me a break right) Anyway my buddy loves to play the single deck 6:5 game which also hits the soft 17 at atlantic city. The other day I was watching him play when the rc(hi-lo) reached +7 after the first round.... I thought to myself - maybe he has the edge right now? He won the hand and after I told him I thought he may have been fav. that round and he got mad that I didnt tell him. I really have no idea at what count this game becomes profitable if at all. Can someone let me know so I can again try to shut this boy up? thank in advance-

IN that case, does it pay to backcount single deck 6:5 games? Do they typically allow midshoe entry? I've never gotten close enough to one of those games to notice.

For a 6:5 H17 DAS game, you'll have the edge around TC +3.
If you found a 3/2 game with a house edge of about 1.5%, then at +3 you should be about even with the house. Since so much of our edge comes from the extra payout on blackjack and the fact that blackjack should happen more often in a positive count, the lowering of the payout to only 6/5 would probably bring that number closer to +5 or even higher if you consider that single deck games often limit what you can double on and might prohibit DAS.

It seems to me like it wouldn't quite be worth it. Most pit bosses know the single deck games are more vulnerable to counters, so they watch them more. Even the 6:5 games. Why not just back-count shoes?

I do backcount shoes. Just wondering if this might be a worthwhile diversion.

The thought of playing next to the ploppiest of ploppies is intriguing, too.

I'm not an expert and I don't know at what point it would become profitable.

Such a simplistic question that it only would depend on the TC.

If u really want to know, buy a sim and experiment with some realistic bet ramps with some real-world rules.

Then play something else with a better use of ur bankroll.

Just my guess.

For HiLo I believe it is +4. Maybe you'll get 10 hands per hour at a decent advantage. Why bother counting?
