66 vs dealer 7

Can someone run a sim on this one?

On a few recent trips to the casino I have tried a play that seems to be working, but I want someone to help with the math on this one... it is splitting 66 vs 7 in a + count.

So far it has worked. Last I tried it I got dealt a 4 and doubled down to get 19, then the next 6 I drew a 5 and DD for 21. Dealer flipped over a 17.

Im not sure on this one, I usually do not venture beyond the Illustrious 18 Indices .. Im sure there is some info out there..

Sounds like you got lucky.

If you think about it, if you are in a positive count (i.e. extra tens) you would be more likely to draw tens, right? You would be more likely to draw to 24 & 26 on those hands and the dealer to his 17.

It's a borderline play

It would take a lifetime of blackjack for splitting or not splitting 66 vs 7 to make much of a difference. (In a DAS game, you would never want to do that were you can't double after the split.) There are probably indices where it is +EV and others where it is -EV.

Overall though, I'm not a fan of putting extra money on the table without there being a significant advantage to it.

This is probably the strangest basic strategy play.
In one or two deck games with DAS, splitting 66 vs 7 is basic strategy.

Starting at 2 deck games I learned to split them.

It depends on the rules... with 1 deck and double after split allowed, then the expected return is .07 higher by splitting. With 2 decks, .01 higher.

If double after split is not allowed or there are more than two decks, then it is not to your advantage to split.
