Never split 8s if the dealer has not checked his 10 or Aces and 8s if he has not checked his Ace for a blackjack. This often is the case in the UK, as the dealer doesn't have a hole card. The reason for this is simple. If you split your 8s against the dealers 10, and he hasn't checked for a blackjack, you now have two bets. If he then gets a blackjack you lose boths bets. Same with doubling down on 11 vs. 10/A. Only follow these rules when the dealer does not peek. For more info on the BS for this:

thanks harman, i realy enjoyed reading your post.but i dont know what exacly word "peek" means.I'm not and english guy ;)

okay then two 8 vs 10 surrender.
u sad that u shuold not split ace's ws 10, but it's only 1 to 13 probality that dealer will have blackjack, and the basic strategy says otherwise that u need to split.

Peek means look. Usually the dealer deals a down card and an upcard. In Vegas, the dealer looks at his hole card (if he has a 10 or an ace showing) and asks you if you want to insure. If the dealer has a blackjack, he will automatically take away your bet, leaving you no opportunity to double it.

In places where the dealer does not look at his hole card, or doesn't even have one, obviously you cannot insure and you could double down and split, only to find the dealer gets a natural and you lose everything.

I also made a mistake in my previous post (now corrected). You should split Aces vs. a 10, but not against an Ace.

Note: A hole card is the dealers down-facing card :)

If playing a shoe game where it's H17, it's also basic strategy to late surrender 8,8 vs Ace rather than split. But it's a close call, and only applies when surrender is an option (splitting is still substantially better than standing)

dudes, opinion is good.bet math are da best know solutions man kind has ever made :), who did it?What i need to do when i have two 8 vs 10 no peek.
8-8 vs ace, no peek( and no surrender possibility) then hit.
Right/wrong?

The rulles are dealer stops at soft 17.

and they also inportant quetion, with those csm shoes, all counting, and so on is history right?Because dealers deals out max 1 deck, and i dont see eny other possibilities then just use basic strategy and wish luck for me.
