which game would you guys rather play:
6d, h17,das,doa, 5/6 pen
8d, h17,das,doa, 7/8 pen
The 8d game has a higher penetration percentage but do you think it would justify playing the 8d over the 6d? Ive stuck with 6d just because 8d is just too damn long.

I'm pretty sure the 5/6 is better.

When comparing two shoe games compare the penetration in decks, not percentages. 5/6 decks is better than 7/8 decks, but just barely.

If you are playing all (not recommended for any shoe game) sometimes all other things being equal, the 8D is better depending on the shuffle procedure. If it's a really long shuffle, the fewer hands per hour you get with the 6D game (due to more shuffling) is enough to make it worse than the 8D.

I find it takes significantly more time to find positive 8D shoes, so all else being equal, I prefer 6D.

Ditto that.

I minimum bet three 8D shoes one afternoon only to get one truly positive situation on the last one near the end of the final shoe.

So I bet a hundred dollars. My maximum bet. I get two tens for a twenty while dealer shows a seven. Figure I'm sitting pretty until it turns out she's got a four hole card. Dealer pulls a 21. The only real chance i had the whole time of nailing the place and she finds the last four card in the deck...

There just aren't enough positive situations (in 8D) on a regular basis to interest me. Where as a decent 6D or better hand held game with low min seems to keep me going.
