A funny story...

...that I just had to share.

I've been reading this forum for a little while, and just had to post this one.

I was playing at a casino up in the mountains of Colorado. The tables there are all $5/$5, so I feel fine with not learning to count, just playing BS.

I sat down at this table at third base, and by the time that this happened, we had a full table, with one person playing two spots, that was pretty talkative. It was a fun time. The person playing two spots had chips in both of the circles, and the dealer messed up. He was a little on the old side, and just didn't notice the chip there (this person would pull back the one chip every so often.) Well, he noticed after he got around to dealing the second card for everybody.

He called over the PB, and she told us that we could throw away our cards if we chose to. After he finished dealing out, I had a 15 vs. the dealers 9, so I didn't care to play on. In fact, only four players remained, three of them had 11 and one had 10. Now here's where it gets good. Just about everyone at the table was playing decent BS (I noticed a few mistakes, but not many.) So everyone decided to double down their bets. What does the dealer do? Says, "Ok, bets are good." and flips over his hole card, its an A. Everyone's like, "Wait, wait, wait." and the dealer just smacks himself. He calls the PB back over, and she says, "Well, everyone gets to see it, play it out however you want."

The first player, had an 11, decides to remove her double down bet and just take a hit. She gets a 6. Hit again, she gets a 2. Well, she has to get 21 to win, so, she hits again. 2.

The second player, had an 11, does the same thing, pulls back her double bet, and takes a hit. She gets a 7. Same thing, gotta hit it. And she gets a 3.

The third player, had a 10, pulls back the double bet, and takes a hit. Gets a 5, and then another 5. She was debating, especially after watching the other two get 21, about taking one more card, but decides to push instead.

The last player, had an 11, man he had guts. He decides, even after watching the first two, to leave his double down bet out there. One card, gets a K. We were all just laughing about how that hand ended up.

Also, they do streak bets. You can bet that you'll win 2,3,4 or 5 hands before you lose one hand. Each one pays progressively more. I think 3:1, 8:1, ... I can't remember the rest, just cause I've never seen anyone win the 4 or 5 streak. Most people will lose the money they put on the 2 streak spot.

With the streak bet,do you win for each hand or just for the end result?
If you win three in a row,do you get paid and then paid again for the fourth or is it only one payout, determined by which hand you lose on?

Colorado has a state law that the maximum bet placed in ANY casino game, whether it's a slot, poker, blackjack, etc... Has a maximum of $5 dollars.

The state did this to ensure gambling was not a means of making money in the state, but rather just a leisure/entertainment for the residents of the state. They don't recieve

There is talk about the limit being raised, but with the hippies in that state, I doubt that will be passed.

A funny story

I have been to the Sky Ute Lodge in Ignacio many times, though it was years ago. I do not remember a $5 max bet limitation there.

Those hands where the dealer messes up and the PB allows the player the option of pulling out can end up really funky.

Mountain Ute lodge had a BJ tourney recently. I do not see how they could have a tourney with a $5 max bet (unless the average bet was a nickel!?!?!?!).

All that would do would keep people from making money. People could still lose ALOT betting $5 max bet, don't you think?
