I am an Iraq veteran. Now obviously i'm not lying when I say I am an Iraq veteran but I have such low regard for casinos that I wouldn't hesitate for a second to lie to them if I wasn't a veteran.

Just act like a military veteran (just back from Iraq is great) you make it less likely for the casino to give you problems. It's like that movie "Wedding Crashers" when they wear fake purple hearts to get free drinks and pick up girls, except less sleazy because you're dealing with a casino.

It's just such a sleazy industry, on par with the Tobacco industry. I feel like such a saint for every penny I take away from them

It is illegal to impersonate a US military officer or to wear US military decorations that haven't been awarded. And it's taken very seriously by those in charge of enforcement.

Come on man as a vet you should know better. Pull a stunt like that with a drunken Marine around and when he figures you out, you might get your butt kicked. A cover story is good but why not just make up one that makes sense to you and that isn't so far-fetched that you can't pull it off naturally. I've told people I'm an engineer working on a nearby government project, but I really am an engineer so I can BS sensibly about it if necessary.

Myself,and every American who ever wore the uniform,which I'm not sure includes you.I've yet to meet a returning vet from SWAsia who referred to it as The Iraq War.Which unit were you in,and what was your MOS?

There's nothing wrong with kicking a war vet out, no more than kicking anyone else out. I think I get what Shadroch is saying; none of the vets I know expect special treatment as civilians because of their service.

I lie to casinos all the time, not because I believe I'm morally superior to them, but because a cover act is necessary for them to allow me to play the game. In other words, I do it for the money. Just like they do what they do for the money. And I guess lying about military service is no worse than when I start sobbing about my fictional compulsive gambling problem and pretending to be an alcoholic. I know an even worse one: rolling yourself in in a wheelchair and pretending to be a cripple. You can be a crippled war vet if you want. Just don't be so proud of yourself- you're not righting any wrong or exacting justice on the casino, you're trying to make money just like they are.

I like the wheelchair camo...even though after walking about 5 miles backcounting I need one...for real. I'm dead tired and some of these new chairs even have the lift capability that raises you up to a proper level to play the game at any table, not just sitdown handicapp tables. I stayed at the MGM last year and had a room that must of been 1/2 mile from the pits and travelling back and forth checking my email 4/5 times in a 5 hour period can get very tiring for this 59 yo. I'm comp'd at the MGM for 4 days in mid-December and going to make arrangements with casino for a new model chair. Makes it a lot easier for this broken down body to backcount in comfort. It's not a ploy, I am getting to the point that I really do need one.
O'well that's life when you abused your body like I have for the past 58.

Obviously I don't want to be screwed by the casinos,which is why I come here and try to learn about ways of beating the casinos,not coming up with half-assed scams that don't stand up to the light of day.
btw-just how are the casinos screwing the veterans or anybody into playing their rigged games?
i'm guessing you KNOW the games are rigged because there is no other possible explanation how a person of your intellect and breeding would be a lifetime loser if the games were legit,right?
So instead of taking the time to learn how to beat the casinos,its easier to bellyache about how the mean rotten casinos cheated you out of your hard earned money.
Want to make money from the casinos? Its not that hard.
You can learn to count cards,you can learn how to play poker or pick horses,you can learn to count comps,or you can invest in the casinos themselves.Harrahs,MGM,Stations and plenty of others are public companies you can buy into.
Or you can keep bitchin and pretending you are something you are not.
