I am going to learn the red 7 count (think thats what it is called). I did it about a year ago for a month for when i went on a cruise, i was quite good i could count down a pack of cards quite quickly, but when i went on the blackjack table (first time i ever had been in a casino), i kept loosing count, went quite fast for me and well the counting didn't do too much lol!

Anyway back to my point, In a month or so i will be able to count cards but will it keep overthrowing me everytime i go to casinos? Or is everyone like that at first and you just get use to the atmosphere?

Also is there any UK card counters in here? Or all just mainly US?

Cheers and hope to see you around :)

Also.. Is the Red seven count a good one to use at first? I know the Hi-Lo one is ment to be the best, but i am wanting a middle sort of difficulty card count. I also did use the Red seven before and it seemed to work well? But i am obviously not as wise as some on here. Cheers!

Speed takes practice...

How fast do you want to go?

You must be able to count a deck in 30 seconds, to be casino ready.

quicker. 20 secs max. get into the teens if you dont want to sit there staring at the table trying to count up each hand. you want to be able to quickly GLANCE at a table and get the count.

This one. Some people claim they could do it on their first try, but for me it took quite a while before I was able to keep the count while playing at the casino.

Yeah i could count them quite fast, cant remember how fast it was but i can remember on another forum i visted when i first started they all said you will be able to count them with ease in casinos, but when i went i think all the noise and me drinking/smoking and talking to the other people just kinda put me off a bit.

I never really played blackjack with distractions i use to just count them in silence in my room or just in the lounge whilst the tv was on, so i suppose i should play some really loud music or something >_>!

Think i should get up to scratch with BS first i still can remember it quite well but not completly perfect.

practice counting while talking to people over the phone or in person. i found that was best casino preparation for me.

Don't just practice counting down decks. Practice dealing an actual game and counting it.

Here's a tip about counting that isn't mentioned too often cuz it seems so obvious. If you're a real noob--is your BS on autopilot? If it isn't, and you have to take any time away from keeping the count to think about your hand then you're goose meat. First step IMO before trying to count is being able to auto-pilot BS.

Once the BS is automatic, I don't think it will ever leave you.
I'm not sure, you can always remember it once it becomes instinctive, but if you don't practice it, it will come to you slower and slower. When card counting, there is no time to think about BS
