Allow A Drivers License Swipe When Getting A Player's Card?

Greetings,

I recall that a CC author (forget which one) advised when getting a Player's Card, under no circumstances allow them to swipe your drivers license.

Wondering if you all agree with this (and curious what information is actually gathered when they do a swipe)?

Would this send up any kind of red flag though (or could you just legitimately claim you're concerned about identity theft)? Please assume true identity and correct address for your answer.

Thanks in advance,

FD

They can't get anything additional from your card that they can't get from the information printed on your card, so if the choice is between "let them swipe it" and "show them but don't let them swipe it" there is no real choice. Your criminal history is public record, and they probably search shared databases by name only.

If you don't have to give them ID at all to get a player's card, that's always ideal. But if you have to, you're not giving in to any extra scrutiny by allowing them to physically swipe it rather than forcing them to write down the information and putting it into the computer manually.
