At the local joint, looking to play at a red chip table. Nothing serious, just killing time having fun. I find one spot open at a table right at the end of a shoe. I had watched about half the shoe before and noticed the guy at the anchor seat seemed to be ramping up and pulling down his bets with the count. Seat nex to him was the only seat, so I sat, not much heat at this table at this joint anyways.
We play into the first shoe and I noticed we're both upping our bets at the same time, so he's definitely counting. We're not really noticed though, I'm only going from $5-$25 and he's going from $10-$60 or so, because there's another guy at the table betting $200 a hand and doing crazy things like splitting tens and hitting hard 17's, etc. This other guy is steaming, so everyone is watching him.
Then every once in a while the guy next to me, who's counting and playing well, will just decide to put out $100 on a hand. Not even really when the count goes up either, just randomly. Then he'll drop back down and play right again. Then a few hands later he'd just randomly throw out $75 or $80. I didn't get it. He seemed like such a smart player, and then played so crazy.
