Another blackjack riddle

I was playing Box 1 with a moderate bet out, ready for a new round. The dealer was about to place the first card in my box, when a new player came to Box 6, put down money, and asked for chips.

The dealer stopped dealing, tucked that first card under the shoe and gave the new player chips. Meanwhile, I increased my bet to the table maximum. Why? What made the hand particularly memorable was that I got a blackjack.

That's an easy one. the dealer was about to deal when the new player jumped in. dealer flashed your card quickly before tucking it. It was an Ace.

I know because this same thing has happened to me exactly, right down to the blackjack.

Except in my case, the blackjack was the dealer's. I got soft 16.

Small consolation that you did the right thing! :(
