AnyBody Been to Isle Vista Casino in Northern WI Lately

They are building a new casino with a grand opening planned for the fall of 2011. Its going to be called Legendary Waters Resort and Casino. See link. (Dead link: http://www.redcliffcasino.com/) I like going to visit new casinos and was thinking of making a trip there once the new casino opens.

I have been to their old casino only twice in my life and it was a real dump of a place although they did have good rules back in 2006. Their DD game was S17 with DAS which gave only a .19 house edge. Yeah, that report in CBJN is my report. Unfortunately, I have been told those rules are now long gone. I was told its now H17 with double on 10 and 11 only which is a pretty poor game. I was wondering if anybody has been there lately who could give a report on pen. I'm trying to decide if a trip would be worth it with the lousy rules. Maybe they will have some good grand opening promotions.

Won't happen. The only reports that I submit to CBJN are conditions I see with my own eyes.

However, I often call casinos and talk to the pit on their rules before I make a trip to make sure nothing has changed. I even sometimes ask about pen, but always save that till last. Usually thats when the pit boss becomes very quite but not always. I had some brag about how good their pen is.

It is a hit and miss proposition at best as to their having BJ. Not worth the trip for sure and for certain, unless you want to sight see.

With the new casino they will be competing against Bad River.

But these places are about as far away as one can get and far from the best gaming experiences.

If you, as an AP, are ever going to get roughed up and abused, it is in these neighborhoods,,,,I'd feel safer at Greektown in Detroit.:laugh:

I also heard that they had no more blackjack a year or so ago from a report over on green chip, but that is no longer true. I called them not long ago for the lastest rules and they definitely have blackjack. Betting limits are now $100 from the previous $50 max, but even when the new casino opens this is going to be a very small place. Only two blackjack tables, one 2 deck and one6 deck. I will not make a trip to a casino with such bad rules unless they offer some promotion.

Yeah, this place is really off the beaten path. However, in summer many very wealthy folks come to the Bayfield area with their hundreds of thousands dollar sailboats.

The Bad River casino is a waste. They sweat everything. They have $50 max and when I asked if they ever raise their limits I was told for only people they know. In other words if you are a known loser they will offer higher limits. The last time I was at Bad River they had a $2 to $10 six deck game or maybe it might of been 4 deck. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

x2, this is deffinately not a place for the faint of heart. On top of that, the games suck, so there is really no reason to stop in. They could almost turn it into a carnival attraction and charge 5 dollars at the door too walk through the haunted house!!

Not that recent, but I was at both casinos in September. Memory is foggy but I didn't find anything of interest in either one. I did see a display at Isle Vista with the construction plans for the new casino. Can't remember when they said it would open, but I'd imagine they'd have more up to date info now anyway.

Yeah, I know. Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks. But still. Hopefully you don't have NMSE too. That's what I saw on that game too, along with No RSA, No LS.

Indian casinos I have found to be very safe. Never had a problem. That said I feel more safe at some than others. Some Indian casinos are deep in Indian country with alot of poor Indians hanging out. However, the majority of Indian casinos are pretty much run by white folks and have mostly white employees. Remember you can't work at a casino with a criminal record.

Now Bad River is a casino that has alot of Indians with many Indians employed by the casino. Here is a little story that happened to me at Bad River. Quite a few years ago, I made a blackjack trip to Bad River. Their was a white pit boss lady who was quite pleasant. After a while this Indian pit boss comes into the pit and watches my play for awhile. I over hear him say to the lady "he's counting". Then she says "I know". Now that Indian just sat down in the pit and started staring at me. Constantly staring. So I just stared back and would continue to stare at him until I had to play me hand. What an a**hole.

Now by contrast their is another casino just south of Bad River called LCO in the great resort area of Hayward WI. There is an Indian pit boss there who is just great. He always remembers me when I come in. I play for maybe an hour or so and then ask for a meal comp. No players card required. He asks for my name and I only give him my first name, no problem. They also have a pretty good four deck game. Its h17 but has surrender so not a bad game.

Never did get kicked out of Bad River, although I know others have. Just didn't feel it was worth going there again.

Yeah, Baraga was where Indian gaming all started. It all started in Fred Dakota's garage.

No great game at Isle Vista. With their new rules the house edge is about .67. Heck, I can play .40 house edge games all day long with no heat. In fact of all the casinos I have played in the Midwest this casino is on the bottom of my list.

The existing casino is a little dump of a place with a dirt parking lot. When I went there last no one was playing and no dealer around. I asked if they were open and they said sure, they will get a dealer. Heck, I thought they pulled one of the cooks out of the restaurant to double as the dealer. At that time the rules were good, but I didn't win. In fact I don't know how I could of lost so much money with only a $50 max bet.

Now the only reason I'm looking at this casino again is because they will soon have a new casino and I'm hoping they might offer some promotion to make it worthwhile. They did offer a promotion this last April, but unfortunately I didn't know about it until it was over. However, the promotion was nothing to brag about. I posted the promotion over on green chip to see if anyone though it was any good. Chaperone didn't think much of it although a small bettor might have a small edge off the top. I would be interested in any thoughts here about this promotion. It appears that most of the value of this promotion comes from the $5 match play which is worth about $2.40. Your first two cards will be diamonds about once in every 17 hands. Even with a promotion like this I still don't know if it would be worth a trip, and who knows they may never offer a promotion again.

I have seen some fine Promos at Bad River, and if you go in season on the weekend the table limits are not bad.

They also have a machine there that if played to perfect strategy is positive ev.
