Anyone here actively play on a team?

As I'm sure most people here have been at one time or another, I have always been fascinated by the success of the MIT teams. Is anyone here actively playing on a team and, if so, how is it working out for you?

I've been playing with partners for about 3 years now and it's been going great. It really opens up a lot of opportunities for some powerful techniques. The hardest and most frustrating part is finding people who you can trust. There are plenty of peope who I know won't steal my money, but I wouldn't trust most of them to place a bet for me. Most people just aren't interested in becoming APs and they never will. :(

Sonny --

I think it's because most people may not fully understand what's possible or the risk involved. As we mentioned on another thread, counting only pays off FOR SURE in the long run and getting to the long run can be difficult for a single person. But what's appealing about team play is that it takes a number of players and turns them into one big super-player who is able to accumulate hours at an ungodly pace.

If I had the capital to back it up (i.e. the type of capital that could be generated by a group of people all acting as investors) and had people, like you say, who I felt I could trust both skill-wise and in regard to honesty, then I would be more motivated to put in the hours and hours of work that it takes to learn to count.

One thing that was particularly interesting to me about the MIT team was that they were all young guys like myself (I'm 25) and it's hard to find young people who are particularly motivated to try to find edges at gambling.

I never have understood why people like to gamble. Personally, I do not like to gamble unless I have an advantage. It's just no fun playing at a disadvantage.

Despite what some may say, there are intelligent ways to gamble even at a disadvantage. Consider roulette, there are ways that will maximize your possibility at winning that don't involve haphazardly placing your chips just wherever.

But when I said "gambling" I merely meant activities generally related to gambling, where that be playing with an advantage or not.
