asking for my name

I was at my local store last night in which the pit boss whom i remember from years ago, asked me for my name. So, i told her, she asked, and your last name. Since i played there years ago when i was a rookie, i had a players card and she knew my name. However, many years later, she remembered me. I told her and of course she ran right over to the computer. Since the tables where empty, i couldnt escape into the crowd or pretend i didnt hear her. What would you do in my case. I dont play for comps in my local stores, stay inconspicuous, only in Vegas. Thoughts, what would you do, thanks

Assuming there's a problem with your name (or you wouldn't be asking this), and assuming that she probably DOES have a pretty good idea of your name; I would have given her the correct first name and a last name that's only SIMILAR to the correct one, and then cross my fingers. How about "Tall Man Reno?". That might have worked.

You're the guy that plays a progression system and is interested in studies on "hot tables," right? I'm not being a smart-ass, I'm just wondering why you're concerned about the boss knowing your name. I'm sure you're a very welcome guest, especially at the stakes you play.

Not necessarily, you expect that I'm a loser at this store, quite the opposite. I remember last time I asked for a free buffet and was denied. Pit boss said, I'm sure you can afford a buffet". Remember, I play high stakes and minimal hands

Being in the black doesn't indicate an advantage. If the pot is smart, they'll comp you what you need. But if you're only playing very short sessions, it may be hard to get comps without giving your name, if that's what you want to do. Why do you care if they know your name? Being a "winner" doesn't mean you pose any threat to them.

I have seen no benefit for them to know my identity. They really have nothing to offer me except cash. Now in Vegas, that's a different story. I want them to rate my play. If you ever stayed in a 3 bedroom sky loft at MGM, you would understand, very cool. Analogy, why do we all have handles here. I think having an advantage and being in the black are 2 separate things. Why do some people win the power ball lottery, odds are, disadvantage, they shouldn't, thanks

The smart way for a casino to deal with a progression bettors, unless they are a very small casino, is to do everything they can to make sure they play in their store. They know you will bleed out a slow profit for a while and then give it back and then some in a very short period of time. They want to make damn sure you are sitting at one of their tables when that happens. If you lose your bankroll at a different casino they just lose to you.
