Atlantic City Tables

What are the general rules for Atlantic City tables?

1)Dealer stands on Soft 17.
2)Double Down is always okay.
3)1 Card about Ace split.
4)No Surrender
5)6 Decks

Are these the standard rules in Atlantic City?
Are these any casions there with Surrender option avaliable?

seems just about right. would just add that "double on any (DOA)" is allowed, and besides aces, split to up to 4 total hands allowed.

some casinos now exclusively have dealer hits soft 17 instead of standing. also, 8 decks is the norm, not 6 (except borgata).

fyi this post should go in the East Coast section of the forum.

At the four (not counting WWW or Claridge, but they are the same rules) Harrah's casino's the dealer hits soft 17. All the others generally stand on soft 17.

Unfortunately S17 has become the exception rather than the rule at AC casinos, particularly the lower limit tables. Trump Marina offers late surrender under certain circumstances. Nearly all games outside of the high-limit pits are 8D. DOA and DAS is indeed in effect, split aces once.

trump marina

We went to Trump Plaza, Ceasars, Wild West, & Trump Marina two weeks back for the first time in 3 years. Was very surprised at the new rules.
All casinos hit soft 17's at all $25-$50 tables.
8 deck, splits up to three hands, double downs on all splits and A's.

Trump Marina has a new counters trap!
1-$10 min & 1-$25min
New: Two tables with hand held single deck action, cut card was just below half deck. (5 players went 2-3 hands). New table game for the dealers, had a few decks go down to the very last card (52nd). There was much too much shuffling but each table had two different decks which were mixed by machine.
No shuffle tracking here.

6/5 payout on BJ.. real bummer

Not true. Time for an eye exam?
Which part isn't true?

The four casinos I visited above, at each of the tables I went to, hit soft 17's. The dealers were quick to point out the first time I questioned it was that most of the casinos in AC have changed their tables. Most... maybe not all.

There may be a few scattered around that I missed but let me know where they are so the next time I can hit them.

At Caesars, the BJ pit on the side of the escalator farthest from the Boardwalk is all S17. At Trump Plaza, it's all S17.

Not to criticize, just a question. What is the standard way to say that you can double? DOA or DA2? I have seen both in various places, and for a while I wasn't sure what DOA meant. I always say DA2. Seems to make it more clear especially when you consider Spanish 21.

And Bally's has at least one pit that is S17. Have to look at the felt.....

If it says it on the felt, it's the rules.

Aside from the Borgata, Tropicana and Hilton most games in town are now H17. It is rapidly spreading and I'd give it a year before there are few if any S17 tables left.
