Automated Comp Calls

Got an automated phone call from a local joint .... "if you'd like a free room any night between now and Xmas press 2 for an operator".

First time I ever got one of these ... offers are always mail. Is this a new use of the technology, or are they hustling more because they're getting more desperate to get people in the door. Dec is a slow time for hotels and another local joint is laying off hundreds of staff because business has gotten slow.

Phone is ringing also

In the last 2 weeks, two casino hosts have each called me twice to entice me to stay with them before the end of the year.
Both of the casinos that they work for do send plenty of mailers and I had never been cold called by one of their hosts in the past.
It is quite obvious that someone has told them to get on the phone and try to get more bodies in their front door.

An interesting but not surprising side note to this is that one of these casinos did back me off of blackjack about 6 months ago but a lack of coordination between marketing and table games is not surprising.

I've noticed the same lack of coordination between marketing and table games. Got backed off a game but the free room offers and match plays for blackjack keep on coming.

Huh, I also had a voicemail from a marketing guy for a casino in probably the same group.. My first marketing call ever. And I stiffed them on play last time I stayed at the hotel.

That auto call made me wonder how you "make the list". Never got even a dinner from this place before. Was playing last month without a card and they weren't paying me much mind.

A Pit critter saw me color up to a few blacks and I kept playing. He did the usual: "have a players club sir"? Me: "No, think I left it home". Critter: "would you like me to check your ID too see if I can find it and get you rated"? This at a $25 table. How could I say no? Would have made it worse. He found me, but there was no real heat even then. Didn't even see him make a phone call. I played about another hour and left with a couple more blacks.

Am I on the "get our money back from this ploppy list"?:grin:

If I call them, suppose I can parlay 1 free week night offer into 2 free weekend nights and a buffet?.
