Automatic Win

I recently came across an unusual rule for the first time, called "automatic win" by the dealer. Essentially when dealt a pair of 10's vs. a dealer 10, you can take an automatic win of half your bet. Sort of a reverse-surrender.

I expect at some high count this might make sense, certainly when a push is (sufficiently) more likely than a win; anyone worked it out?

Edit: Ah, it's also called "casino surrender", and has been discussed a bit here: http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bb/showthread.php?t=14093 . I saw it in Vegas, BTW, at an otherwise unremarkable low-stakes H17 game.

They've had it at The Sahara for years. i tried to use it while employing a match play and the entire casino seemed to shut down as three pitbosses debated if I could induce the dealer to surrender on a match play.

It has value to an AP. It's probably worth taking at a point just below it going +EV, due to "bird-in-the-hand" math. For you can lose with a 20 too.
