Avoiding coloring up...is it a good idea?

Curious everyone's thoughts on thing like this.
Do you sometimes try to avoid coloring up at the table? Why and how?
Do you also do it at smaller, local casinos?
Do you skip the cage completely sometimes and just reuse your chips next time etc?
Pros vs Cons?
Any thoughts are welcome.

It is called playing with a chip inventory and it works well with casinos that you play regularly. The Pros are you can both enter and exit game without coloring up or buying in. Occasionally you can get in and out without any interaction with pit.

It doesn't work well at small casinos that try to keep track of everything. If your casino cage calls the pit on a modest cash out, chip inventory doesn't work that well.

Yean I used to play with a chip inventory at some small casinos...but I actually think it causes more harm than good.
Now I have changed my thoughts on it. Now I show my buy in proudly...like I am here to gamble.

At larger, busier places yeah...getting in and out occasionally without any interaction with pit is good. But at small, local places it just really doesn't work. And I think it brings more heat and attention.

At some places, and YMMV, I would avoid coloring up to pink chips. Seems they tend to call the pit to see if that's right when pink. But usually, no cashier seems to give a rat's about black chips. I think it really does depend upon the house or size of the casino, or tolerance, so to speak.
