I have been using a 30X base bet.... so when I want to play $15 I have at least $450 on me ....

I have heard 40X also ...

also, here is a tricky one..... at what point do you increase your base bet? typically if I have shown a 50% profit I will go up $5...so now I play $20... once I have doubled my buy in I go to $25 or stop for the day

so I have two quiestions

1. what is your multiple you play with 20X , 30X etc...?

2. and when do you decide to increase your base bet?

your max and average bets are more important here, and that depends on your spread.

If you're playing a single deck game, you might only bet spreading $15-$60. Playing a shoe, you might be talking $15-$200. big difference.

Fred Renzey threw out a rule of thumb where you shouldn't even walk into a casino without 10 max bets. Since I've blown more than that, it's a pretty good rule of thumb for a session bankroll.

Increasing your overall betting level is going to depend on your total bankroll. For a long time I used the rule of thumb where my max bet was 1% of my total bankroll (and then set my minimum bet based on desired spread). It's ghetto, but it's an okay approximation if you're not running a sim.
