Basic strategy engine does not have an easy way to figure out some of the soft hands against small cards.
For example, yesterday I got an A3 against a 3. It's a 6D H17 game, so I hit it to get another 3. Now I have A3-3 against a 3, which I cannot double. I look at the basic strategy chart and it doesn't say DH or DS, just says D. And at that quick moment, I didn't know what to do, and said what the hell hit it. After a lot of weird looks, and several "are you sure's" she hit, and I got a 9, to stand at hard 16. In this case, was I right to treat A6 as 7, and so hit it? If the card I took was a 4, then I was going to stand with A3-4, since basic strategy engine is clear on this one, labelled as "DS".
Some of the other hands I kinda figure out myself. For example, when I have A2 against 4, and I hit to get a 3, I hit it again. Because in that case, I already have a stiff of 16. So, worst case that can happen is to have another stiff, which doesn't differ from 16 at all. And I at least have a chance to improve A2-3. But, I wasn't so sure with A3-3 against a 3.
