Basic Strategy Trainer Error

I found an error with the Basic Strategy Trainer found on this website. The error occurs when "Early Surrender" is used. When either Dealer or Player get a BlackJack, the play automatically ends. There is no opportunity to Surrender if the Dealer has a BlackJack. The Player should be able to select to Surrender before the Dealer checks his hole card. So essentially it is not early Surrender but late Surrender.

Why would you want forfeit half your bet when you could get a push? Are you sure your not getting this confused with INS. You can still Surrender against an Ace, so therefore its still early Sr.

Okay, let me give an example. Let's say that my hand equals 16. The Dealer shows a 10. With Early Surrender I should be able to choose to Surrender before the Dealer checks his hole card for BlackJack. In the Strategy Trainer on the website, I am never allowed the opportunity to Surrender because the Dealer checks his hole card first before I can play.

OK, copy that!

Hmmmm not sure, since Ive never played a early Sr game. From the way understand it however, you could only save half your bet to a dealears natural when an ace was showin. Perhaps this stipulation varys from casino to casino if early Sr was to be offered. But then again, pephaps your right and it is a error. Wheres Ken?

I don't use the strategy trainer here since I have Casino Verite, but decided to take a look.

It does seem wacky on early surrender. I had a 13 VS A and I know that's not a BS surrender, but it didn't give me the opportunity. Also when I had a total 6 (2 & 4) VS A when I tried to hit the trainer told me I should surrender.

It sounds like this may be a bug. I'm away traveling at the moment. Hopefully I'll find some time to examine this when I get back.

Is there actually ann early surrender game anywhere in the world?
Yep. I know of a city with 6D, H17, DAS, DA2, and Early Surrender any hand. No good for counters though, as they use CSMs.

Cool just knowing it exists somewhere.

Sounds like almost a break-even game. I'd love to play it.

According to the little Engine that could, its a .03 House edge. Maybe with a full table you could reduce that to .00 Then, just for the fun of it you could Double up on wins and loss'es.

Apparently a CSM drops that edge to .01, or so I have read. How would a full table drop the edge?

I'm guessing he's thinking it may just be card-countable enough to gain just a little bit more thru playing departures alone and that such counts are more likely to occur with more cards exposed like happens at a full table.

I mean, sitting at 3rd, one may just see some counts that justify hitting a 13 vs 2 or 12 vs 4 or 12 vs 6 or even standing 12 vs 3 etc.

And he may not be putting the cards back in the machine every round anyway.

My 1st Strategy Results:
Hands = 382, Cycles Completed = 9, Longest Cycle = 105 hands, Win/Loss = +$127.50.

My 2nd Strategy Results:
(2) Hands = 2001, Percentage Won = 40.63% Win/Loss = -$877.50
From the looks of it, we don't want to know about your 2nd Strategy, but never mind that.

It's been a while since you've updated the testing of your 1st Strategy. You probably think it requires no further testing, but why not humor me by doing some more? :)
