Best 8-Deck Counting System

Hey guys. Im learning to count right now, just the basics, and its goin pretty well. I have been going to a Casino with CSMs lately, but i have decided to fuck that even tho its so close and drive farther where there are hand-dealt 8-deck games.

Two questions:

1. Do Indian Casinos usually have alot of Heat in the pit? I mean there was basically 0 at Soaring Eagle, but then again it was all CSMs....

2. Which Counting System should I use: Arnold Synders Red 7 or Hi/Lo? The only difference I can see is that you need TC for Hi/Lo and just use True Edge for Red 7. Does either have a slightly greater edge?

Thanks alot guys, and honestly if you want you can just give me one word answers here.

If you are playing below black chips you should not get any heat against 8 decks. Hi-Lo is slightly more powerful than Red 7 or KO against 8 deck.

should be virtually no heat on csm's.
any of those counts is fine. i prefer hi/lo . hi/lo has a slightly higher edge. for one thing about hi/lo and playing against eight decks is that you might want to jump into an inprocess game that you haven't backcounted. you can do so with hi/lo and just keep in mind how many unseen decks there are when figuring your tc.
perhaps i'm wrong but i don't think you can do that with the unbalanced counts.
be prepared those eight deck games are tough. hopefully you'll be able to wong in sometimes. but what ever you do wong out when the count goes negative. you'll find fluctuation of shoe games to be rather extreme sometimes even more so than the csm's.

best regards,

High-Low will be a better choice for 8D. Don't forget about Wonging out- the single most powerful thing you can do in addition to spreading is to get up and leave when the true count goes below -1.

I don't know much about Red 7, but I just did some reading up on Knockout (another unbalanced count)... It seems like a disaster versus big shoes, especially with regards to gleaning useful playing changes versus the count.

However, I'm pretty sure that I'm not up to the mental gymnastics of even Hi-lo, so that means a lot more to me than efficiency :)

KO is FINE for wonging. zg

Any count system would be fine for multi-deck games. If there is a significant difference, it would mathematically be very slim. I've been counting 8D shoes with hi/lo in indian casinos you should check out my review: http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bb/showthread.php?t=3081

Keep in mind that theres alot of bad flux in those big shoe games. When you're back-counting, the table will usually be negative counts until the shuffle card. Patience is the key. Wong in/out at the right times and be sure you have a good betting spread or stragedy. Don't bother continuing to count a negative table that hits double digits. It will usually stay negative and very rarely will it go back up just wong in elsewhere.

P.S. Casino heat may be minimal at lower stakes but some indian casinos will have their eye on you the moment you put that black chip in, be ready for some heat.
