Betting Ramps and T,2 v 4 dilemma

Ive noticed that for betting calculations, the ramps are defined by how much to bet at certain true counts, which are shown in integer intervals. This may seem dumb, but is it better to bet the average bet if the count is in between counts, so as not to appear to bet mechanically? Ex: My betting ramp is <=+1 bet 1, +2 bet 2, +3 bet 4, +4 bet 6 and the count is 3.5. Should I bet 5 units?

Secondly, I remember reading what I'm about to ask in a post earlier but I couldn't find it, so sorry for reposting. In C-D BS, you hit on a T,2v4 for 6 decks or less. But In Hi-Lo, the index says to hit at less that 0. Which takes precedence?

Notice the top graph, that has the 2,4 and X,removed. "Hitting is the better option"

Notice the bottom graph, that is the same hand with those 3 cards put back into the deck. "Standing is the better option"

To the first, for discussion's sake lol, no.

To the second, hit it off the top of a shoe for sure. Later in the shoe, I'd probably just use the index. If I was a BS only, I'd always hit it. Even if that's bad advice, pis*ing off everyone at the table makes it all worthwhile lol.

You don't need to worry about marginal decisions when it comes to actual play it is neither here nor there if you hit your 12 v 4 at 0 especially with the minimum bet out. Sometimes hitting helps other times it will cause you to lose and visa versa. If you are using Hi Lo then hitting it when the count is neg is the correct play. What is more important is that you make your decisions accurately with the big money out.

When you start to push your bets up with the count you also dont have to be rigid, if you are betting within your bankroll then you have some scope to bet a little more or a little less at times. Don't go overboard but sometimes put out a little extra, maybe after a win, sometimes play a little less. As long as you are somewhere around your bet spread then you will win in the long run. It might not always be the optimal thing to do but if it gets you more playing hours and deflects any attention then it can only be a good thing.

Danger! Yes and No

If you raise your bets for half TC's you will be raising your ROR above what it currently is. This is not a problem as long as you take it into account.

Indices take precedent over BS.

maybe the point to the first question is that you could do it but then you won't know just what to expect relative to the first spread and ramps since i think what goes on between tc's isn't thought to be linear.

Half to the Whole

Let's say you have a bet ramp.

tc 2, $20
tc 3, $40

and you have an ror of 10%.

if you decide to bet
tc 2, $20
tc 2.5, $30
tc 3, $40

you would increase your ror because you are putting more $ on the table.

If you take into consideration .5 TC's when mapping bet ramps then its' possible, but this supposedly adds very little value.

Who the heck knows like you and BA say. Why not bet 1.5 units at 1.5 and 2.5 units at 2.5 too. Maybe there isn't much gap in freq between TC 3 & 4 anyway. The advantage would be different at 3.5 than 3, etc. And all that linear stuff - is it or isn't it. Or if your spread jumped from 10 units to 16 at some point, would you bet 13 then lol. Not to mention you won't know whether the TC is 3.5 or not most of the time anyway.

But, like Treaveller said if the OP wants to bet 5 units between 3.5 and 4 instead of 4 units between 3.5 and 4, it probably wouldn't matter that much. If he only bets the 5 units half the time anyway, it matters less lol.

I suppose one could at least take a crack at estimating it from the original sim if you really wanted. Or maybe sims can break out fractional TC's or use an exact card TC assumption or something lol.

Anyway always good to wonder ahead of time what might change if I do this or that and at least convince yourself if it is a big deal or not so big lol.

But before you can decide if doing this is "better", hopefully you know what's going on with the original spread. That's what he should worrying about first and only before any of this stuff.

Yes to all.

You can hit OR stand 12 vs 4 as you whim between +1 and -1. See ZGI. zg

Well... 10-2 vs 4 is yes first hand out of a shoe here, but once that happens, no. If you use hi/lo, I agree with zg... less than +1. Remember that hi/lo DOES NOT count 7-8-9, which is essential to this hand.
