Beware of site operators

I'm not going into details, but be aware that site operators running boards about advantage play might have a hidden agenda, i.e. selling information to the industry.
Don't discuss valuable information in public, not on the board, and especially not on PM. Exchange e-mail addresses, and consider using encryption.

Not this site. Sorry, I didn't want to imply that.
Just in case anyone has concerns here, I can absolutely assure everyone that this will NEVER happen here. I'm absolutely and firmly entrenched on the player side of the table. There is no amount of money that would persuade me to share any information with the casinos.

I guess law enforcement would be the only possible exception. No information about users will ever leave my hands in the absence of some kind of legal subpoena. That's never happened and hopefully never will.

Other than the part that implies that Ken has a hidden agenda (even though he SAYS he didn't mean to); the REST of the OPs' advice is well justified. It's NOT a good idea to discuss valuable information on ANY public forum, or even by PM, for that matter.

What about PM's? Do admins have access to those?
As far as i'm aware, vBullitin does NOT allow admin to access PM. However i know for a fact that a tallented techy can get round that. So the answer i suppose is yes, but only if the admin have already decided to cross a moral boundary, it's not a built in feature.

I didn't mean to imply anything about this board or people here. English is not my mother tongue, if there are unintended aspect perceived between the lines, they aren't meant that way. I must apologize for that, as a non-native speaker those details are impossible to grasp.

This board has (and will!) be a great inspiration, and many fruitful discussions about a variety of topics evolved. The thread is not any kind of accusation, it is an open reminder to not let your guard down any time.

Oops, I linked to a deleted thread! Sorry 'bout that.
Here are the relevant parts of the post:

First of all, there's no facility in the vBulletin software for me to examine user's private messages. In my opinion that's a good thing. Still, because the messages are stored in the database, I could examine them if needed. But I hate to open that can of worms.

Nonetheless, for future reference, please assume that private messages could potentially be examined by me if the need arises. If that makes you uncomfortable about particular PM content, then don't send the PM.

Since I added the particular mentions of PM abuse to the forum guidelines, I'll have to revise my rule to the following: I won't view any PMs unless I need to do so to investigate a claim of abuse.

So, everyone is on notice. If someone reports you as having sent an abusive PM, your PMs will be examined by me. If the claim is accurate, you can expect to be banned. If the claim isn't accurate... well, don't make inaccurate claims.

No reason to think this way, this site has thousands of members and for a reason.
I hope you're not this paranoid in the casinos

A couple of comments:
1) The original post and the replies were not talking about this site or BJ21. The question that arose was at Wizard of Odds I believe. I don't know any of the details though.
2) Paranoia in this business is a good thing! I hope everyone exercises appropriate caution everywhere, including here.
