If a casino dealt 6 deck game with the following rules would the daily casino table hold be greater than an 8 deck game with same rules, assuming full table 24/7?

6 deck, 3/2, DOA, DAS, 3/2, no LS, 75% Pen, minimum $10, Maximum $1,000

Thanks, jp

The game with the higher house edge will yield a higher hold assuming everyone in the casino plays proper BS. But what are the chances of that? I would imagine that the hold wouldn’t change much because the average player is already giving up much more than the house edge. I’m sure someone with more experience can give you a better answer, but I don’t think the hold would change much by switching from 6D to 8D (assuming the drop stayed the same).

I would imagine the switch would result in a few extra hands played per shoe,so the hold would increase slightly.

All else being equal...

it would probably boil down to ASM vs. hand shuffle. Since the 6 decker @ 75% would mean that 4.5 decks are played between shuffles as compared with the 8 decker allowing 6 straight decks in play, over the long run the house would have more "handle" exposed to their HA with the latter in the same time frame.

Let's see if I remember my lingo right (might not):

Cash deposited at table ("drop"), would increase, because the 8D game would get in more hands per day due to fewer shuffles.

Percent of drop in excess of chip depletion ("hold") would also increase, by virtue of 8D having a slightly higher house edge than 6D.

Total profit to casino would increase due to both factors.

I believe your definition of the terms is correct.

Unless it's a particularly busy time, I don't think either the "drop" or the "hold" would change significantly. The majority of players bring a certain amount of money to the casino and leave when it's gone. When there are more hands per hour, it simply means that they will lose their money at a faster rate and won't get to play as long. If the casino is busy, it frees up a seat for someone else to play.

come on

An 8 deck game has a higher house edge, so it is worse for you better for the casino....why do you think they offer it!!

Depends on the shuffle. If they have an overly complicated shuffle, the 6 decker could be better for the house. And if you have players that bitch about 8 deck games, you could lose players, which is way -ev.
