blackjack trainer?

Hi everybody. I'm new and eager to learn the game. I was wondering if there was a stragedy trainer out there that would allow me to play just the tough hands, or allow me to choose my hand, and play against various dealer hands. I have trouble memorizing hands like A3 or A7. I play these hands at home to try and learn. Just wondering if there might be a program out there to train me, without playing the other easier hands all night.

Very nice first post.I look forward to the answers. I'm tired of having to wade thru 20 easy hands to get to the tough one myself.

yup

if you're talking about basic strategy, then I believe hitorstand.com has a "difficult" setting that runs more or less through the hands that are difficult and rare.

hope this helps.

that's the trainer

You're right on KENDER. hitorstand.com definately challenges the player on the difficult setting. This is just what I was looking for. :) Thank you for the help!! I also looked at bj21.com. Good site. I think i'll make up some flash cards for when I can't play on the computer.

the trouble with such a trainer in my opinion is that what is hard for any given indivdual is rather subjective. it would be nice if there was a trainer program that the user could configure so that it would more often present hands that were difficult for any given individual. barring that i would just make up some flash cards for the particular hands i found difficult and drill with those.

best regards,

Both of those sites give an inordinate amount of two Ace hands. The Hit and Stand game gives several every game it seems. And niether allows you to set the game conditions-ie SD,DD H17,S17.
Both are good trainers, but they are not great.

The test at (Dead link: http://www.blackjack-bst.com) is pretty grueling as well.
I used this site as well to get my basic strategy down. Try for at least 400 secs with few or no mistakes. 300 secs and you wont ever need to worry about BS again.

The trainer at (Dead link: http://www.blackjack-bst.com) does at least allow you to choose a few different options:

Though it doesn't allow you to set up surrender, or some other options unfortunately.

The biggest benefit I found using it was the speed of my decision making on soft hands - those were always my nemesis. I've gone from 597 seconds with 6 wrong to 451 seconds with 1 wrong in an afternoon (long way to go, I know). I'm pretty much just reacting to the soft hands instead of having to think about them. I also noticed a difference in my little half hour stint at the casino last night, too. :)

Customizable Blackjack Game and Trainer

I know I'm a bit late to respond to this message, but check out http://www.hitorsplit.com for a customizable basic strategy game and trainer. You can choose the rules and pick precisely which hands you want to be dealt.

Casino Verite Blackjack Software has options on it's drills to just practice soft stand, soft doubles etc. You have to pay, but it's worth it if your serious about learning

On the hitorsplit website the 2 deck strategy card says to hit 77 vs 8 in a s17 game. All the 2 deck strategy for s17 that I've ever seen say that you should split 77 vs dealer 8 in s17 game. I have not checked out the games in detail, but that might be a problem for some players while learning BS.
