Button on table. What is it?

Have any of you seen this before? I was at a casino playing blackjack. There is a button built into the table. It is in between the shoe and chip tray. The dealer presses this button right before dealing each hand. Does anyone know what that is?

A local place (Sycuan) has such a button. Their tables are definitely not mindplay. And I don't think they're sophisticated enough to have RFID (either that or the PC's just religiously track chips out of habit). So I think it's more of a tool to clock the number of hands played, that feeds into the player rating computer.

One way to at least eliminate the tracking question is to play that table heads-up without a player's card.
