Can this game be taken?

At first glance, it looks terrible but if you could spread enough, can you beat it?
8 Decks, H17, DO,DAS, No Surrender.
Minimum bet $1, Max bet $100. Bets under $5 incur a .25 cent ante.
So if on nuetral or negative counts you are risking $1.25 to win $1.00, but in positive counts you are able to bet $10 or $20 with impunity, can this game be taken? Lets assume you might be able to max out at a4 40 bet without drawing supwe heat on yourself. Wonging is not an option as there is a waiting list of ploppies waiting for a seat. You can make a bathroom break on occasion.
I was thinking something like $1 base bet, $6 at plus one and letting any winning hand ride if the count justifies.
Tables are full, and mostly people who don't play BJ so we are looking at 45-50 hands an hour on average.

The 25c ante is going to be a killer. If you can bet $6 a hand as your minimum and incur no ante, I think that's going to be better.
$6 to $40 is a pretty bleak spread for this game and I can't imagine it's a winner overall. $6 to $100 may have a shot at being positive.
Penetration will be very important here. Sims?

You can't bet $6. Above $5, must be in $5 incremental. The question is if $10 to $100 spread can beat the house.

Of course you can bet $6. What are you talking about?

With the $1.25 bet and a max bet of $40, you are spreading something like 1-28, wouldn't that be better than $6-$40 which is slightly better than a 1-6 spread?

Think about the cost associated with each of your waiting bets. If you assume a 0.5% house edge, 1 hand of $6 will cost you 3c, whereas one hand of $1 will cost you 25.5c.

You aren't making more money by increasing your spread. Very much the opposite!

You're welcome.

Thinking about it, the house edge for the waiting bets will be significantly more than 0.5%, since these are all the bets for which the TC is neutral or negative.

But I'm sure it will still be dwarfed by the additional 25c of the ante.

Betting $5 or under is prohibitively expensive. They might as well slap a $10 minimum on the table. When you are betting $1 you have a 25-27% disadvantage. That wont make up for having a 1% advantage betting a $100. Your better off betting $10 at 1.5% disadvantage.
