Card Observation

Long story short: I decided (like many of you that aren't senior/executive members) that I won't learn counting. The +1's and -1's and dividing by remaing decks is something I'm sure I could master in a month (in my living room, of course).

However, what is this "card observation" I've read about? Is it so over-simplified that it doesn't increase the player's advantage?

i'm not sure about this "card observation" you refer too but it's probably the ploys that Renzy describes in his Blackjack Bluebook II book. he describes hand composition and table composition tactics for play that can give you a slight edge over pure basic strategy play. they wont however bring you over the house edge unfortuantely hence in the long run you still end up losing money.
