Casino Hold and CSMs

Hey guys,

I just bought, "Advantage Play for the Casino Executive", because thats probably what I am going to go into after college and thought it may be cool to see AP from the casinos side.

Anyway, it says in there that the less pen. in the shoe, the less money the casino makes an hour. This makes sense, because with the house edge the more bets they can get per hour the more they make.

Also, the bad pen. that reduces AP does not come close to making up for the lost Ploppy money.

So, my question is:

Why don't all casinos switch to entirely CSM's? There is no stopping at all, and this would all but eliminate counting.

This would be very bad for counters, but why dont they do this?

Thanks,

David

well i don't really know. but for one thing blackjack is a marketale game.
csm blackjack isn't really blackjack ie. the aforementioned marketable game.
so to eliminate blackjack entirely would be to eliminate a marketable game that they have as an option to make money on.

Ploppy whales refuse to play against CSMs thats why you dont see them in high limit pits. However, I think CSMs are a good idea from a profit stand point on lower limit tables.

CSM's are actually another casino failure

When Shufflemaster introduced the CSM it was sold to the casino based on the idea of more hands per hour on all tables and the elimination of cardcounting.
The casinos bought or leased tons of these and put them on the tables only to see nearly anyone who bet $25 or more refuse to play on these tables. In a short period of time these casinos removed the CSM's from all but the lowest roller tables where it does get them more hands or more money per hour.

It is an example of the power of the ploppy. The casinos had to fold on the CSM everywhere idea, because the ploppies with money would not play.

They don't know what weird machinations are going on inside the machines, it disrupts The Flow of the cards.

Higher Minimum = Better rules

Someone mentioned in another post basically you can find better games at higher minimums.

right and this is something i've wondered about. point being are these beanheads actually selling better games to people who may have enough intellectual understanding of the differance? maybe even to advantage players?
selling price being the premium paid of the higher table min?

Higher limit players are more likely to be "serious" gamblers.

Serious gamblers, with the exception of some slot players, are more likely to be able to identify a "good" game from a "bad" game:

- Rules at blackjack
- Paytables at video poker
- Commission at baccarat
- Odds in craps
- etc.

Even if the gambler isn't particularly good at the game of choice, they may still want the better game.

And at the "whale" level, high-rollers may even haggle the casino on the details of the Deal that they get, loss rebates, etc.
