Does anyone know anything about how often the prize pool cycles on class 2 VLT machines?
My understanding of state lottery VLT "slot" machines is that they differ from true slot machines found in Vegas, Atlantic City, Connecticut and now Pennsylvania (I am not sure where else in US class 3 machines are legal). Class 3 machines operate independantly from one another with their own random results generation while class 2 VLT's are more like scratch tickets where all machines are connected to a central processor and draw off of a predetermined prize pool. When the prize pool has been awarded, the cycle starts over.
I typically never play class 2 VLT machines but have on occasion when visiting different racetracks where they seem to be popluar. I have witnessed on more than one occasion an apparant spike in payouts very late at night in the final half hour or so before closing. My question is, do state lottery laws require that these machines pay out a certain amount daily or are my observations purely coincidental? I have witnessed this at racetrack casinos in 4 different states. If the prize pool has to be payed out on a daily basis would it make sense to play these machines just prior to closing on the chance that a big payout must be awarded?
Has anyone else ever played at a place with VLT's and noticed similar events?
