Last year I had been playing at a table for awhile on a Fri night and not really making anything, so I started chatting with the pit boss, asking if they had vacancy tonight, and eventually asked if he could get me a room. He said I could stay the night for free. I didn't check into my room until 4am, and the lady at the desk informed me that checkout time was at 11am, but since it was already pretty late, I didn't have to check out until the following morning. So I got two nights free, staying from late Fri night until Sun afternoon, plus the pitboss threw in enough food comps to cover for the entire weekend.
I had never really directly asked for comps before, but as long as you're not destroying them, it doesn't hurt to ask! And I was only red-chipping (<=$100).
