comps that are only good for one day

you know those comps, usually cash, that have a single date on them, and can only be used on that date? well i was thinking, could that be the casino testing your waters? seeing if you will come in on an exact day just to retrieve $5? $5 is at least 3 hours worth of playing to me, in terms of win rate, so its like, i could play bj for 3+ hours, or cash this in, even tho it might mean the casino may think of me as somebody they can send those dreaded 1 day comps to.. chances are, it doesnt matter what you cash in or whatever, as they probably treat everybody the same since its most likely a 100% automated comp system

Three hours?

Three hours off of $5.00.....I seriously wish I could say that!

The only way $5 gets close to three hours with me is on a penny slot machine and only min bet!

Nothing tricky here

I think the casino is just trying to get you to show up on what would ordinarily be a slow day for them.

not everybody has thousands and thousands of dollars you know.. also, $5 is EV, not actual.. clearly nobody could last 3 hours with a $5 bankroll.. i still dont get it, nearly everybody on here seems to think that playing basic strategy is ok if you dont want to count cards, yet if your counting cards and have a $1/hr win rate, thats insanely hilarious.. how is -$x/hr better than +$x/hr? some of you seem to forget gambling is supposed to be fun, so if you your ev is positive, and your having fun, you are essentially being paid (even if it is only $1/hr) to have fun..

im tired of people saying stupid **** when i tell them my win rate, because not once did i ever say "ya, im doing pretty good at ~.3% advantage and $1/hr, im thinking of doing this for a living".. if your going to mock me, then you must mock the **** out of basic strategy players also.. the odd thing is, a lot of people who have the same amount of money as me are spreading their bets and playing with a huge RoR, yet nobody mocks them..

btw, min wage is already at $7.50, and its going up every year for 3 years, which is odd, because it was the same for like 10 years, now they are playing catch up i guess.. in 2010 it will be $9/hr or so

Because it's not worth the effort, time, and work involved to learn, practice, wong, and count for $5/hr. Just like its not worth working if you're not getting paid a good amount for it.

Then you are going to be 900% behind a minimum wage soon :)

I was not making fun of your strategy or edge. But if you spend say $10 in gas to get to a casino and make $10 in 6 hours... you couldve worked at the mcDonalds down the street, walked to work and made $50 in the same time period. Its not the principle, its how its being executed. :cool2:

Don't talk to me about Micky D's. This week I've been running around so much I haven't had time to eat properly and have visited McDonalds a couple of times on the run. So far I've gained another 6 pounds!!! This is it! Either I stop eating now, or I'll be 300 lbs by year's end! Don't laugh!!!!!!I feel like a blimp about to be launched!!

is there anybody here who thinks blackjack is fun? apparently not.. for the last damn time, I AM NOT GAMBLING TO MAKE MONEY, I AM PLAYING FOR FUN, AND MAKING A SMALL AMOUNT OF MONEY IS A BONUS! THEY ARE PAYING ME TO HAVE FUN! does this mean i dont care about all the advanced things? no.. when i get enuf money i plan to spread like $10-$40 and get myself over $10/hr, but for now im just having fun and learning as much as i can.. when i get into something, i REALLY get into it, and go way beyond.. i really dont understand why most people on here seem to look at blackjack/gambling as a day job and not as fun.. if somebody paid you $2/hr to go to the waterpark, or bowling, or play video games, would you?

You do realize that you could quit playing for a month or two,and use the time you are currently playing cards with to get a job delivering pizza.
Stockpile your pizza money and in about two months you'll have the money needed to spread enough to actually make money doing what you enjoy.

um, i have a job making $12/hr, did you think i was building up my bankroll relying on luck and $1/hr? when i say "i have a $2000 bankroll" or something, i am estimating, and also not including all of my money.. for instance, right now i have $2500 to my name, and surely you wouldnt call that a bankroll, as if i lost all that, i would have $0 for ANYTHING.. my paychecks are like $340, as i work part time..
