k other than EV I don't know many of the acronyms/abbrieviations you guys are using. Can someone help with terms like:

Wong(ing)
DOA, DAS
ploppy

and whatever other frequently used acronyms there are.

Thanks

Wonging can be described as "wonging in" or "wonging out". Wonging is referring to the technique of avoiding negative counts. So if you "wong in" you are waiting for a plus count and then jump in to play. If you "wong out" you leave when the count goes negative.

DOA= Double on anything. That means you can double any 2 cards you want.
DAS= Double after split. After splitting you are allowed to double.

Ploppy refers to a losing blackjack player. In can be used to bad players of any game, but it's normally referring to a blackjack player that doesn't play with the advantage.

thanks, couple more questions

and is wonging risky for drawing heat?
i'd be playing 5min 199max table... will they even look for me counting unless i'm making it blatantly obvious.

at what count do you wong out? or wong in for that matter?
I'm assuming it is the true count that I'm looking for?

At low stakes you can wong in and out with little heat. Just dont stand right behind the table and stare at the table though.

It sounds like you are new to the game of blackjack, so I suggest you read a few books on the game before attempting to play.

Here are 3 great ones to get you started:
1. Knockout Blackjack
2. Blackbelt in Blackjack
3. Blackjack Attack

Good luck!

Also make sure you know BS (basic strategy) perfectly before your next trip. THIS INCLUDES SOFT DOUBLES!!!! Study the BS for the type of game you will be playing most often. If you are not sure here are the rules I run into more than anything else:

6 deck shoe
Double on Any two cards
Double after split
split pairs 3 times, except AA, which draw one card a piece
No Surrender
Dealer stands on soft 17
During the week table limits range from $5-$50. On the weekends table minimums range $15-$100. This excludes the high roller pit.
