Counterfeit bills!!

Just a quick post, Went to sands this past Sunday and went to cash about 600+ in chips. However when i went to deposit my money into my bank the atm spit one of the 100 dollar bills back out and said it couldn't accept it. Obviously there is nothing that can be done at this point, i called the casino and they said i could make a report but when this happens it's at the patrons loss.

It def reminds you to not just count your money but make sure it's the real thing.

This doesn't necessarily mean it is counterfeit.

What I would be worried about is that if you present it at the teller's cage, they may have to confiscate it for the Treasury Dept. to investigate, in which case, you're out $100. I'd be tempted to simply spend it while the verdict is still out as to whether it is or it isn't counterfeit, but I am not advising anyone to do this. Could be, as you suggest, that some other criteria is kicking it out of the ATM, such as a dog-eared corner. As:devil:tempted:devil:lan

I'd keep that same bill and go back to the Sands and color up with it at an empty(or near empty) table. Make sure it's face up .If the dealer takes it, no problem. If they make an issue over it, tell them that it's the exact same bill THEY handed you at THEIR cage at (date/time). They will definitely have a visual record of that same bill be passed off to you. If you still have problems, tell them that the Gaming Commission, FBI would also "love" to see that tape.

Yeah, I've had it spit bills back out also, it's probably just the crappy ATM not being able to handle it because it's a little dog eared or something. I think if the ATM thought you had given it a counterfeit bill it would not have given it back to you... Did you try feeding it in a 2nd time? That has worked for me in that situation before...

Are the cameras actually good enough to pick up the same bill...which would mean they'd be able to pick up the SN of each bill?

This has happened to me before and it was due to the $100 bill just being really old.

I immediately thought the casino had given me a bad bill but I had no problem buying in with it again at a different table.

I see those old $100 bills around from time to time and machines just don't like them.

It's Just a Machine

Just becasue a bill breaker machine won't take a bill does not mean the bill is bad. It would probably be taken by another machine.:joker::whip:

Also, if you got the bill from a casino it has probably already passed the basic visual examination so can probably use it at a table game.:joker::whip:

A dirty bill will often not read.

Yeah I hate passing counterfeit too and normally I wouldn't but in this circumstance I probably would.

Maybe buy something at the casino with it, so it's more likely the casino will take it to the bank (and get stuck with it themselves) than give it to another patron.

Prevention (counterfeit detector pens) is better than cure. Hey Monk, APs may not learn from dumb casinos except from Showboat. All the Boat's dealers have used the pens to minimize their losses from accepting the fake greenbacks at tables.

The pen only costs 3 bucks---what an investment!

Pen doesn't work if a lower denomination bill has been bleached then reprinted. That's why some casinos have their dealers hold it up to the light - to make sure the watermark, as well as the picture, is of Ben F.

Another thought

After some further thought the simplest way to "renegotiate" that C-Note is to hop over to the nearest VP machine, insert it, get your credits, play a few hands(or not), hit the "cash out" button and you're good to go.

ty for all the comments

hey guys thanks for all the input, I actually was able to pass the bill of on the tables during the week on a really busy Wed.

I honestly doubt that i will see one of these C-notes anytime again soon but i will be checking for the sec stripes and watermarks when i get money from the cages. Their machines and people aren't 100% it just takes an extra few secs while counting it.

BTW on another note the sands is having some really nice promotions and prize drawings the month of august.
