Counting and Metaphysics

A few months ago I was talking to my pit boss discussing counting and taking in all the info spewing forth from his mouth.. and generally saying little. I asked him if we have any counters at our casino. 'There's one guy we're watching', he tells me. An hour later I'm dealing away and finish my push... only to be grabbed by the pit boss. 'See that guy over there on third base?.... well that's him'. I'd just been dealing to him. This guy is not a regular. He comes in about once every few months. Much to my disgust, I was put back on his table and ordered to cut the cards with 50% pen. for each new shoe.

Now that I have become more skilled at counting (I can now count, deal and converse fully) I have noticed another counter that is so far undetected... probably because he hasn't won much yet. But he bets big when the count is good.. he's just been unlucky. One time he had 20 mins. of straight play that was perfect - every time he'd max his bet - he'd win.... only to lose it all later when the count was good but the cards went against him. Thing is - he always makes a bee line for me. My dealing isn't sloppy, I always make the regulation cut of 33% - meaning I won't get in trouble from the casino - but also giving counters a sporting chance to do their thing.

Now - what are the odds (to put it in casino terms) of these things happening? The known counter coming to my table the next hour after our discussion? The unknown counter being repeatedly drawn to my table and no one else's?

I'm sure anyone who has spent any amount of time in a casino will know, winning and losing comes in streaks. Even in card counting, applying hard math/science - this still seems to be the case. Are there not higher external forces at work here? Or is that heretic talk to counters and their mathematical brains and systems?

I look at the casino as a mini universe. An infinite number of possibilities and probabilities. The 'as above, so below' theory - that what happens in the casino, happens in the outside world and the universe.. only not with relation to machines and games.. but much greater things.

I see more possibilities than divine intervention for what you said happened. Your unknown counter may just remember your face and that you give him decent pen and/or haven't ratted on him. Your pit boss may have just told you about the one card counter who happens to be in the casino at that given moment. Thus, it was just a matter of time before you bumped into him while he wasn't on a smoke break.

Although, divine intervention is also a possibility. Maybe you are meant to help your pit boss find the unknown counter by eventually allowing him to earn enough to get recognized?

Is the player REALLY beelining for your table, or are you maybe just not spotting him when he's at other tables. Sounds like this is maybe a double deck game you're describing? Otherwise, 66% penetration isnt' very exciting on a shoe. Do you know what kind of penetration other dealers do? Is there any chance he's just homing in on the table due because it's uncrowded?

I don't know about metaphysics, but if you don't share tips, I'd let him discreetly know that you can deal deeper for some tips...
