Counting for the First Time

Hey guys. I'm sure you get one of these texts every day or so, but I was just looking for some input.

So for the first time, me and my friend are going next weekend to go to Casino Windsor in Canada to count because we are both now 19 years old.

I have been practicing and reading about counting for a very long time now, and he has also.

My question is, we are going to be there for 2 days and will have about 300-400$ each.

My thinking was just to Wong in and out on pos/neg counts and play that way the whole time to get the most out of our money.

Is this a good way to go or is it better to wait for a high count then sit and play for awhile?

Thanks,

David

I don't understand the difference. It sounds like both strategies involve Wonging in at plus counts and Wonging out on negative counts.

Either way, with $400 you should be playing very carefully. Avoid as many negative counts as possible and use a small unit size. You don't want to go broke after a few hours of play.

If you mean wong in on high counts, and stay until the count drops then yes. Why leave if the count stays high? Unless you're broke.

Well I'd read a little bit more about risk of ruin and trip bankroll requirements!

I'd say, at 19, with $400 bucks, flat bet, have fun, get drunk (can u drink at 19 in Canada? - if not don't even go!), count for fun if u must. On a weekend it might even be hard to find a $10 table let alone wong-in. It's bad enough paying exchange rates back and forth, not to mention bridge tolls and ID checks.

If it's a 40 unit bankroll, you'd probably have a very high risk of ruin (Greater than 50% depending how long u play). With 16 units, you could be done in one shoe.

Is it 21 in Michigan? If not, go to Detroit. You can even play 2 spots there with one seat!

Let us know what happens and good luck!

Wong +counts w/ $10 units (flat-bet wonging ONLY). zg
Glad we agree with the $10 flat-bet. But, you know, for a kid like this, I don't really see the point of playing 25 hands an hour on a 2 day trip for a game in which u probably don't have much of an advantage in (because of the flat-betting) anyway. I mean why not just wait until u have the bankroll to count if u want to count? Otherwise, just enjoy the entertainment, players, sit with ur friend, etc - it's only costing u a couple bucks an hour. Cheaper than going to a movie.

He could still count in a play-all game and make some index plays and get some value out of the counting.

Anyway, however u choose to enjoy ur money Dyepaintball, good luck!

You do have an advantage flat betting if you only play on positive counts.
I was wondering if someone here that maybe has those sims could quantify how much one loses in total advantage by only flat-betting instead of spreading, say 1-12 in a 75% 8 deck game DAS S17 No LS game.

Either a play-all game or a Wonging game, whatever you want to do. Whatever u think is reasonable.

Or maybe some of u guys already know the answer, at least in general terms!
