Counting in BC casinos.

I live in Vancouver,bc and read a few books on card counting till i finnally decided to test it out in EdgeWater Casino and RiverRock Casino. Well, i noticed there is one major problem with card counting at those casinos after about 3 hands the delaer simply puts the cards back in the shoe. Does anyone know if all casinos in British Columbia do that? Does anyone know how to play and raise your chances of winning against 6 deck of cards being constantly in the shoe?

Sorry

Sorry Ivan, but I think you are dealing with (no pun intended) with a constant shuffle machine (CSM). There is quite a bit of talk about that on the forum here if you search on CSM or Constant Shuffle Machine. Bottom line though is that at present, we know of no way of defeating them by counting since the "deck" is randomized with spent cards every few hands.

thats messed up.. robbed of our only chance of breaking even. So now i guess its all back to basic stragedy when dealer has 8 or higher u hit if its less then 8 u stay.

There is just a little more to Basic Strategy than what you quoted  You might check out http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bjbse.php and refine your attack a smidgen. I sure wouldn't want to risk my money using that "8's" rule of yours!

Whats a hole card rule in bc casinos?
I think there is a member going by Etownguy who can answer specific questions about Canadian BJ. He plays a lot up there.

There are four casinos in the lower mainland all owned by Gateway Casinos which deal 6 decks and shuffle by hand.

Vancouver
Burnaby
New West
Langley

There is no hole card dealt in BC casinos, but since the dealer only wins your initial bet with a natural I don't think it affects BS, ie double down and split bets are not lost if the dealer has BJ. It is not the Lose all to a natural type of game played in Europe.

I believe all of them use the mashine the shuffle the cards. Riverrock does and so does edgewater and they are owned by Gateway casinos.

They do not use CSM's at these casinos, the Langley location does use shuffling machines between each shoe.

I think the Langley Cascades Casino uses 5 decks with CSMs, the dealer usually allowing anywhere from 0.5 to 1.5 decks or so before putting the cards back in the CSM.

What's the difference between a Shuffle machine and a CSM; does a shuffle machine only shuffle the deck(s) once? The monsters Langley Cascades uses (ShuffleKings, I believe) are constantly fed by the dealer; I've noticed the monster won't even spit out cards if approximately 2 decks have been dealt out and not fed back in.

Interestingly enough, yesterday one of their monsters jammed. The dealer had been dealt an A and I had been dealt a 20. The pit just got everyone to take their bet back. I couldn't tell if I had been ripped off or not; didn't care much, I was only playing a minimum bet.

The one thing I dislike about shuffle machines is that they make it diffiuclt to table hop and find a new shoe to play since the amount of time spent auto shuffling is minimal. Unless you're playing through all negative counts I would prefer hand shuffles.
