Cover required for green chip play?

I've just started counting at the green-chip level at Foxwoods. I'm using the KO count with a 1-12 spread, with limited betting cover (jumping by no more than 1-4-8-12 during a spiking count). All 8D shoe games. Lots of wonging out, a little backcounting and wonging in. I'm also ratholing a green chip or two per hour.

Do I need to worry about cover plays at this stage? I've read Ian Anderson's book where he discusses making intentional playing errors that aren't very costly, and are correct during high counts when your large bets are out. Things like always standing on 16 vs 10, surrendering excessively (16 vs 8 - 15 vs 9,A - 14 vs T,A), doubling on 11 vs A and 10 vs T/A.

Is there any advantage to incorporating some playing errors that will cost me 10% of my expected return when my min bet is $25? I've heard that Foxwoods doesn't seem to care much about advantage play. It seems that all of the backing off/comp freezes I've read about there stem from excessive cumulative wins.

Getting cut off from comps would suck. On the other hand, I don't want to give away EV for cover that they won't even notice.

No way dude, at the $25 level you will be just fine, and it sounds like you are playing the game just fine too. I'm there all the time. Good idea to take advantage of the generous comps! Those gas cards will be a significant part of your EV. A little bit of $1 video poker play will be leveraged into better mail offers.

All the backoffs I'm familiar with involved black chip play in the Newport room by counters with more money than common sense.

Generous? Their comps are not "generous". 1hr play, $35 average at $25table, gave me only 6.45 wampum points. Screw the gas cards at 1.75 wampum per $1; the store gift cards are better at 1.50 wampum per $1.

Cover for the green chip player

Have not been to Foxwoods for a long time, but based on when I was a green chip player I took the following route.
At places that tolerate large action, I never worried about any camo that directly cost me any EV. Might play a little VP, but making mistakes on the table as cover was not done.
At places where they were known to sweat any sizeable bet, where red chip players are backed off, I used mostly verbal cover and hit the door in an hour or less. That's places like Coast Casinos.

So, today in Vegas I tell a green chip player that as long as he does not appear to be a counter, does nothing to piss off or show up the pit, he can play from a couple of hours to endlessly at a place like MGM but better be out the door in 45 minutes at SunCoast. Might not work for everyone, but did work for me.
