Craps Comps

One thing I am trying to learn in order to give myself more cover for card counting is craps. Does anybody know how the casino figures out comps for craps players? I'm figuring on just making a pass bet, followed by the maximum free odds bet if a point is established. The Boneman's excellent site, nextshooter.com, is silent on this subject.

I'm not a craps player but I'm a comps chaser. I have been told that casinos don't factor in odds bets at all,as they pay true odds on them.

Shadroch is right about casinos not factoring the odds bet into the comp equation. Some have said that some do, but I am highly skeptical of those unsubstantiated statements. So make the odds bet for the sake of making the bet, not to impress the house for comps' sake.

As a rule of thumb, the house will evaluate your general betting scheme and base the comp off of the estimated house edge of your bet(s), which takes into account the average bet level and variety of bets.

It's really gonna depend on what casino you're at. As usual, you should be making a huge bet when getting rated, and dropping off as much as possible when the boss is away.

Just as an aside to all this, if you want to make a "comps impression" by raising your bets when the suits come by with their paper & pens, one option is an inflated Pass Line bet. Positive: big advantage on the comeout. Negative: you might get stuck with a bad number, and you inherit a hefty disadvantage.

That's why I'm a big proponent of placing the 6 & 8. It's easy to flex it up when the boss is coming around, and lower whenever you want. Spreading your action over multiple bad bets just doesn't make sense to me...but I'm sure you know that already.

I have been playing craps for years although BJ is really my game ,craps is very addicting. I had heard that the odds were not counted in play because of even odds so I asked a pit boss in Atlantic City at the Trumpth Marina. He said ,my friend we count all your action And especially how much you start with. You cash in $3000 ,we take notice. I have found playing at a $10 table and taking 5 times the odds that is allowed at the Trumpth and taking 2 come bets is better than placing numbers. Remember ,when you place a bet , that bet has a lower payoff and will eventually be lost. I play pass line and 2 come bets and wait until one of the numbers has been repeated ,then I take another come bet. I love hearing the dealer reapeat off and on. House advantage is only .04% versus average of 1.5 % for place bettors.
