Dealer dealt when I said no card

A few months back I was playing Blackjack with a couple of friends in our local casino which was Grosvenor. We had been playing a while and this was just for fun, no counting etc.. (obv. not at Grosvenor any way). I had a low hand something like 13 and I didn't fancy taking a new card, I said 'No card thank you'. I was dealt a card and it was a 10. Immediately and obviously I reinforced the fact that I had said I did not want a card. In turn she removed the 10 card and put it to the side and carried on dealing.

I had a bit of a problem with this and said that the hand should be void and re dealt as a card that was to be played, had now been removed thus changing the course of the game. Did I have a point?

You should be using the universal hand signals for 'hit' and 'stand' not saying "no card" the casino lets you speak instead of hand signals?... Different casinos have different policies on what they do for screw ups like that. Removing one ten really doesn't have a big of an effect on the game...Besides even though it changed the course of the shoe, isn't it just as likely it changed it for the better than for the worse?

Sorry I did fail to add there that in saying that I didn't ask for a card I was also using the hand signals, always do because of this kind of thing. In my response to saying I didn't want a card I said to check the tape as I was, using signals.

I wouldn't have even cared had I won... :| No it doesn't have a big change on the game but exclusive of other hands it would certainly effect the one being played.

Were there other players in the game? The next person to act should have complained if they wanted the ten. If they didn't want it,they would have remained silent.I think that only if the card belonged to the dealer and would have busted them,would I have said anything.

anytime I've seen this they didn't burn the card but rather gave it to the next person that wanted it. My friend even had a 12 against a 10 and a very similar situation happened to the player on his right. After the PB came over and play resumed my buddy said "are you going to give me that 10 of clubs or a new card" the dealer replied it would be the same card so my friend stood on his 12. The dealer then proceeded to bust with the 10 card.

yeah it was a full table, I cant quite remember what the person next to me had but I'm guessing they didn't want it as I seemingly was the only person bothered by it. My affection for the dealer decreased more when shuffling the cards managed to spill them all over the table and floor. Recount.

Seems that its just up to whatever system the Casino decides to employ in the situation.

yea i saw a dealer hit a soft 18. pit boss just put the card off to the side.. guy on first base gave a little remark that it should have been his card.

what u need to do is find a weak dealer and signal a stand but say hit, or say like give me a 7! if you get a card you want then its all good dont' bring anything else up... but say it busts your hand you go on saying i signaled a stand and then everything that is on the tape or visual is a stand signal.. eh?

Give the dealer a break!

You got a card that you didn't not signal for and the dealer then took the card and burned it. You got the best of it on that hand if it was a card that busts you the dealer took it away and moved on. If it was a card that would of helped your hand you would of kept it. It doesn't matter how the result of the hand turns out just know that you got the best of that hand and that is all that matters. I wouldn't be upset with that situation if she took your money and your cards than I would be upset if I wanted to stay and the dealer hit me.

Please confirm for the Grosvenor, it is now American style rules, where the dealer starts with two cards.

I agree if you got dealt a card that you didn't signal for but it helped you, then you keep it and if it hurt you you'd raise the concern and get the card removed, therefore you've got the best of both worlds.

....imagine being able to hit every hard hand you ever get dealt and only keep the card if it doesn't bust you....what a set a rules ;)

It the same thing as hole-carding isn't it - playing you hand optimally based on a little more information than you should have?
