Dealer error causes crazyness!

I was at this csm table to avoid some heat cause it was a great night (almost empty) and I was on about my 8th hour and up about 40 units.

Some other guy is at the table and is playing some stupid strategy where he rides his bets upto some crazy level with huge stacks of green. The guy was being a prick to me all night because it was the only $25 table left and he was apparently not impressed with my stupid plays of making different decsisions for the same hand and because I didn't understanding how to 'bet to beat the game' by riding my winnings.

Anyway I get a 10-6 and he has 6-8 and the dealer has an 8. The dealer draws me an 8 before I signal anything. Anyway he folds my hand and he realises what he did and I stare at him. He says 'you would have taken it anyway'. I said 'Umm no, this time i didn't want it' he laughs and I watch the hand play out. By this time he has already played out the 2nd guys hand. He hits and gets 7, the dealer then draws 5 then 10.

So the bit poss comes over to sort it out and back move the cards. Basically the hand is layed out with the shown cards but back near the shoe. I 'stand' and the other guy gets to his feet and starts to swear going on about how he 'has now lost thanks to me and the dealer'. The dealer and I look at each other and start laughing. He gets really mad and slaps the stack of chips knocking them everywhere.

The bit boss is eventually able to explain to him that his hit doesn't stand and he apologies and sits down saying he 'didn't know' Amazingly when i left at 4am he was still playing and up by about $3,000 by now with the casino doing whatever they could to keep him playing.

Keeping the pit on the up and up

Once, just myself and a fellow who spoke no English and played like he spoke no blackjack.
He gets 17 vs dealer 10 and obviously taps for a hit. Dealer goes right by him and hits me with a card that busts me, takes her own hit and beats that guy. Then she realizes what she did and called the pit. The pit makes the hand stand as is, to which I do not protest because I had a minimum bet out and would have busted either way.
Perhaps 10 minutes later, same dealer, same pit, same dam thing happens.
Different this time because again the no speak blackjack guy has 17, wants to hit, I have 13 and the dealer now only has a 7. She passes him again, I get an 8, she is pat with 17 and again here comes the critter from the pit. This time the pit decides that she should back up the cards, bust the other guy, and take my 21 away. I remind her exactly what she did a few minutes earlier and she states, "I can solve these things anyway I wish." I refuse to either hit or stand and tell the pit (a dual rate obviously looking to move the casino food chain) to call her boss. She actually brings the shift manager over after explaining privately her side to him for an extended period of time. Guy comes over and says he sees no problem. I ask the pit what she did earlier and she lies. I ask the dealer and the dealer describes the hand 10 minutes earlier perfectly. I get paid and the manager and his pit leave the pit and are having a discussion on the side.
Twenty minutes later, the critter has not returned, but wondering if I burned bridges in this place (has a decent game) the manager comes up to me, says he reviewed the tapes, refunds my bet for the first hand, asks if I know where the other player went and hands me a comp for their best restaurant and his apology and says I had the deadly combo (his words) of a new dealer and a new pit.

I pay for my errors all the time, I will not pay for dealer errors anytime.

Good to see they did the right thing. I have seen the same situation like yours.

In Australia we have laws that govern exactally how the game plays and all the mistakes that can happen. Basically if the dealer ever makes a mistake it always ends up favouring the play, in that shown cards are to be kept in play, or in some cases the player can even remove their bet.

Had an uncle (not blood) who at one time was a table game manager at a casino in Havana Cuba pre Castro, of course.
His opinion on solving disputes was pretty simple. He believed that if there was any question (sometimes the players are just wrong) always solve the problem in the players favor. To quote, "it might then take you a few minutes longer to get their money but they will leave your place thinking that you gave them a fair shake and probably come back."
His thoughts make a lot of sense and really are policy at some casinos but not all and from a casino point of view it makes little sense to be unfriendly. Sure you might get a high roller who takes an expensive shot at you, but he can only get away with this once if at all.
