Dealers training!

I happend to be at the joint the other day and was let in on a little inside info. The local joints are training their dealers to recognize aps and what we do. I asked for what reason but the dealer couldn't really tell because she didn't know yet. I think this laughable to say the least considering that dealers are already overworked and underpaid. The higher ups are getting more and more paranoid as time goes on and this is just the first step. blackchipjim:gun:

Dealer's - Counter Catchers

I recently read an article about this same subject. The casino was offering a bonus of $300 to any dealer that notified PC's concerning suspected counter's who they catch after reviewing tapes.

Instant AP---Stiff the Dealer!

I think this is pretty funny. At best they will tell dealers early in the course that counters are stiffs, so perhaps a few ploppies who just happen to be cheap and get lucky will suddenly find their way to the list of advantage players.
They will tell the dealers to look for bet spread. Just how many Asian players have we seen without a bet spread? How many players will steam?

Experience has led me to believe that the vast majority of pits do not know basic strategy. Some may consider the guy splitting 9,9 vs 8 or 9 an idiot but some may consider him an expert. If the course is taught by someone with expertize then the dealers will be pointed toward the most common deviations from basic strategy. The guy who hits his 16 vs 10 but sometimes does not. The guy who hits his 12 vs 2 or 3 but sometimes does not.

Just based upon dealer mindset (an easy couple hundred bucks) and the number of real AP's out there, we will see them doing many many tape reviews and perhaps finding an amatuer counter once or twice. If they figure the amount of man hours wasted, the thing will go away quickly.

My reccommendation: Throw a toke out for the dealer fairly early in your session and if he is inclined to play pick a counter, it will be someone else. Remember most dealers can not recognize a player who plays basic strategy from an average player.

I thought all dealers kept count. Is this true?

The job of the dealer is to deal. He also keeps an eye on the bets making sure no one ads or subtracts to their bets after cards are coming out. Of course he is also protecting the rack. Counting cards has never been a part of a dealer's job but a few who count when they play will count when they deal.
The other thing is that if you ask dealers for advice you will discover that most of them, if they play the way they tell you to play, are horrible blackjack players. They learn to deal at dealing school but they learned to play from the terrible players at their tables.
Not only this but most pits do not count either.
