if a pit boss happens to be watching your table, and you are ready to raise your bet because you have just reached a pivot in your count, should you do it ? I played on a reserve yesterday, and using KO, I wanted to raise from 1 to 6u. I am a rookie, so I only went to 3. Went on a tear, winning 4 hands in a row with that count, but kept bet to 3 units. I think i'm paranoid. Does the pb watch his/her dealers as much as players ? Some of the dealers I came across we're making a few mistakes as you could tell they we're fairly new.(Addition/insurance/pay-outs)

thnx all

You may have been correct on the first bet but you certainlly should have jumped your bet 2/3 units on the second, third and fourth bet. A simple "I feel lucky, I'm going to let it ride" would have taken care of that situation. Don't give too much credit to these pit guys. A lot of them wouldn't know a card counter from a lunch counter.

??

I've wondered about this myself with KO. I think that only once or twice since I've been using it, has it reached a favorable count much earlier than when there are only a half dozen hands left in a 6-deck shoe. Seems obvious as hell to me when bets stay at minimum for most of the shoe and then at the very end, jump to 5 or 10 times the minimum! So far, I've been able to discount it with superstitious nonsense..."double or nothing", "Make it or Break it" type comments while looking totally frustrated. But I'm wondering how much water that'll hold when playing at a casino where they are paranoid?

hey Mikeaber

I am playing a small casino today where pb's are right on top of you. Never mind the fact that it isnt going to be that busy. I have read ZG talk about not playing at tables with more than 3 players, but a dead casino must be just as difficult ? Gonna give it a shot though. I start off playing bs, while still counting. I might dive in on 2nd or 3rd shoe if it is favourable. I only play $10uv, so I hope this will limit their paranoia.

thnx

That's usually how long it takes to determine what the "flow of the cards" is! ;)

I think if you are playing all red chips you wont really attract any attention card counting. I wouldnt worry about it

I got no worries about it Cass. Just mulling things around. I'm really needing time at a "real" table. Just a couple more weeks. I'm getting cabin fever really bad right now!

I get quite a bit of mileage from saying something like "after all thsoe crappy little cards, there must be some good ones coming" when the count does finally go positive.

That's a broad statement to make and isn't true for every casino out there. You would get plenty of unwanted attention at my local casino jumping your red chip bets from 5 to 50 a hand. Of course, it's hard not to get attention in a very small casino and also Vegas might be a whole different story.
