Did the Dealer Know?

I am playing this $25 game and I was having some luck after a long losing streak. In fact, I cashed out $6,500, $2,800 of which was my buy in over time. Later I returned to the same table. When I started betting big, the foreign born dealer began telling the other players that I knew what I was doing, that I had "skills." Twice she used the word "skills" in referring to my play. I felt (1) that this foreign born lady should not have this particular word in her vocabulary in reference to card playing, and (2) that it seemed too coincidental to my previous win to be accidental. I thought maybe someone in management or surveillance had said something to her on break. But why? She did seem extra eager to sweet talk me into staying at the table and playing. I may be done for this store. What do you think?

Dealers point out I'm a good player all the time. If the dealers aren't allowed to tell the players how to play their hand they'll just say ask me. Kind of annoying actually, I don't wan't ploppies correctly

If your instinct is telling you something is wrong, and if the dealer saying "skill" is bothering, then your probably right - you would get a better sense of this dealer than the rest of us. Does seem out of character to say skill rather than your a good player. Skill does seem to be a word the PC would use and she might have picked up from them.

I would be in no hurry to go back if I felt it was out of character.

When I jumped from 1 Unit to 5 Units the next round, I got a blackjack. The dealer looked into my eyes - You seem to know which card is coming out. I had to say- If so, I would have bet everything. I am just lucky

Come on, now...
I never used the term "skills" regarding cards until I joined this Forum. I said many things, but never "skills." The term "skilled player" is used by many a casino to define a card counter or advantage player. Prior to here, I used many terms to refer to someone good with cards, but never a "skilled player." This was in no way intended as a slur against foreigners.

I heard the same sh$t from the dealers to me and other people all the time. Trust me. They don't know. It is just an educated guess from what they heard about the counters. When they saw someone is winning, they said the same sh$t. This was confirmed by what I heard from a dealer saying to a ploppy who was winning but definitely not an AP.

I agree with this sentiment the most.

I've also recently had a couple of Asian dealers point out that I am a very good player, as well as several other dealers of other ethnicities point out the same thing. Sometimes, no matter how ploppy I pretend to be, they seem to see through the act.

Well, if you're getting spooked by the heat from the dealers, I'd say go with your gut to decide whether to stay away for awhile or not. You're experienced enough to tell when it's time to duck for cover.
