a couple of weeks ago i had a losing session in vegas. to the tune of $1500 bucks. this has sparked a desire to get much more serious about advantage play. i can keep the count at the tables, i can count down a deck in under 30 seconds, i can go through the strategy trainer @ blackjack-bst in 430 seconds on average with no mistakes. i have a copy of the illustrious 18 indices (but have not committed them to memory yet), i understand trip bankroll, bankroll and that my unit should be no more than 1/266 of my bankroll. bet spread of 1/2 unit to five units (or 2 x 3.5 units) with a hi-lo count. i prefer playing at tunica since it is closer to home/comps are easier/minimums are lower. i work in a professional capacity in the real world, so ROR is not a huge concern. conditions in tunica are mostly shoe games with no CSM, 60-75% penetration, dealer hits soft 17, DAS, etc.

what are the next skills to be working on? deck estimation? RC to TC conversion? my "act" while at the tables? or what?
Hi!

I'm happy to receive comm via this PM function... BUT your questions are invaluable to the members at this discussion site.

So I'm re-posting your inquiry on the counting forum with your name deleted.

Your spread is sufficient for the shoe games of Tunica BUT ONLY IF you wong them.

For the shoes you will definitely need to practice your TC conversion, or alternatively switch counts to a RC-type scheme like Red7 of KO.

30-secs for 1D is a little slow. Try it face up, 2-cards at a time, and shoot for under 20-secs.

And DO LEARN the I-18 if you stay with HiLo. zg

I read the description of your conditions in Tunica. 60% to 75% is not very good for a shoe game. You should be able to find 75% and greater though Tunica may be different than those casinos in which I play. I play those tables with a 1:10 spread myself and use exit strategy primarily, but do find ways to back off in mid shoe and reenter if the count improves.

As for the loss....those hurt, but they do happen no matter how well you play.

yes you definately need deck estimation and conversion of your RC to TC if you are going to use HiLo. learn the I18 also.
i get the impression you are some how overbetting. probably that is the case if you are just going by the running count instead of using the true count to size your bets. also you need to cease play if the true is zero or at least at minus one after two decks have been dealt sometimes you want to bail out even earlier.

best regards,

Playing Conditions in Tunica

You will find 10.00 DD games with good rules at most casino's in Tunica, and have played DD 5.00 min at the Sheraton. All games have no mid-shoe entry even on shoe games, so wonging is out, The Grand allowed mid-shoe entry but I was only allowed to bid minimum until the next schuffle. There are some 10.00 single deck 3 to 2 on blackjack games but any more than four at the table and they reshuffle for each hand. I hope this helps
