I just got back from a week long buisness trip to Vegas.I was out for the Magic apperal show.We stayed at the green valley ranch, and i loved it.Its agreat hotel and wasnt crawed at all.Had a great room at a great price. The blackjack was also great.I didnt get to plays a much as i wanted ,i was there for work.in the five days i was there i got in about ten hours of plays.I use KO and play 6 or 8 deck shoes. One morning i walked down to the casino and walked up to a table with only one other player. It turned out to be a Double Deck table with a $10 min.I thought ok.i will try it.I had to think for a minute what my irc , key count ,and pivot point were..I flat bet the first round and told the dealer to help me.I had never played this before. In no time i was hooked, and had it down flat.I loved the fast action over a 6 and 8 deck shoe.I thought it would be hard to keep the count, but had no problem keeping up.I keep my spread small with a 1 to 4.in all i had about six hours in DD and four hours of 6deck,and walked away with $575.As for heat.I never got any.Its like the pit didnt care about us small timers.I also noticed that the dealers had to take turns at being pit boss.I asked a dealer about it and she told me that they were short pit boss and that every dealer had to take turns working the floor. All they did was keep up with the buy ins and and the color ups.Never came over and watch the play.It was great.I also got my first comp.a free buffet.I had to ask for it,and they gave it to me.never had one.Anyway.the play was great as well as hotel.

Hey Pawnbroker,

Glad you had a good trip. Always a pleasure to beat the house, whether through luck or skill. GVR is a killer property, but it's tough to get a cheap room there, so good job.

They have plenty of low cost DD there, especially during the day. But like most of the DD these days, the penetration tends to hover between 50% to 60% Truly atrocious. With this kind of pen, you rarely get to take advantage of the good count unless it spikes early and you are playing alone. Even then, the situation is not as good as a high count later in the shoe. Also, the lack of surrender in these games is a bummer.

Every once in a while, if you're dilligent, you can find a dealer cutting deeper. But they seem pretty well conditioned to cut it down the middle here. How were they cutting it for you?

I too love playing DD though. Just hard to find a good game sometimes.

Cheers,
CP
