Do you count the burn cards when you start your count?

I've been counting cards for some time now, and when I'm at the Casino I always factor in the two (or one) burn card in my IRC. But when I play on Casino Verite (software) it never counts the two burn cards.

So my question is whether or not those two cards even play a factor? meaning that if I chose to disregard them will it have an effect on the accuracy of my count?

If you see it, definitely count it, just like any other card. If you don't see it, then consider it the same as all the cards behind the cut card.

By the way, if the dealer looks somewhat inexperienced and the pit boss isn't around, I'll ask to see the burn card. After that, she'll show it to you everytime without having to ask.

pretty much all the casinos surrounding Toronto show the burn cards out of courtesy. I guess its that Canadian politeness

Showing the burn card

When asked, the dealers in Atlantic City must show the burn card to the players. That was particularly nice in a recent game opportunity that appeared there. You could bet on Red or Black, and the bet paid 3:1 if both the players initial two cards were that color. In an infinite deck, that bet would have no edge.

In Atlantic City, when they showed the burn card, even the first hand of a shoe offered a profitable bet. If the burn card was red, bet black. If the burn card was black, bet red. You can figure out the rest.

Not surprisingly, this game is no longer available.
